Drove the MINI again, this time to go look at a possible winter vehicle.

Should have this in about 2 weeks....

2 mostly reliable vehicles with character trump an appliance vehicle.

It's a 2001, as usual head gasket blown, will be replaced before I get it. Head gone over, all new gaskets etc. All other normal bits that go on these are also being gone over. Bought off a couple guys that run a local Rover Shop called Mud Ruts, they also drive MINIs.

    It's got a V8!

Well, if you're gonna own one, it's good to have a shop that knows you and what goes wrong with them.

It does have a V-8, one of the weakest V-8's since the early 80's.....

Is it a Disco or an LR2 or 3? In 2001 I think it was a Disco still....

I worked for a Range Rover dealer, BTDT. More expensive to keep on the road than Jags!

    Fun to drive tho, kinda.....

I never understood why the engines were unreliable, they were understressed with only about 185 hp, although the vehicle is heavy......they get terrible mileage too IIRC, about 12 in town.....even worse if you're offroading or tearing up heavy snow.

I've been wanting a Rover. Maybe to tow my R53 to the track? Could get matching paint jobs. Be a little British race team.

I just picked up a Trailex trailer for my 05 - not because I can't drive the MINI to the track - but because I'm worried it won't make it home! LOL

Chris and Stephen are great guys and very good at working on them. You'll be fine with that for the winter.

Haha. I'll bring the trailer. Undoubtedly someone in Ohio will need it. I'm planning on taking both MINIs so the wife can drive too.

I have no room to talk, I own one of Jalopnik's "Worst cars to own", an Audi Allroad with the twin turbo V-6, Tiptronic transmission and air suspension.

It also gets about 14 mpg in town.....

But (touch wood) I haven't had a lick of trouble with it.

Put some arch trim on it. Better.
