Looks like New Years Eve celebrations started early this morning. On my way in to work this morning in -6C temperatures, I saw cars parked in no stopping zones on the major roads, one guy driving his Camry down a major road with a front tire flat and beginning to shred off the wheel. Yet he was intently driving, holding tight to the steering wheel and oblivious that he had a flat tire. Then I am so thankful I was driving a MINI when some lady pulled out of a sidestreet, totally ignoring the stop sign looking right while turning left and some emergency maneuvering on my part prevented an accident. Happy New Year, everybody. Hope to wave to you in your MINI in 2016.
We generally stay home tonight, but unfortunately it's just another Thursday for my wife and she has to work....her shift ends at midnight tonight, she's only 3 miles away but her route is right thru the heart of the biggest bars and hotels, all of whom will be hosting large crowds of revelers.....
Got a New Years celebration in a box from Jeff! Just in time too! Thanks buddy, see you in May! Yes, I'm out in the shop having one now in this balmy 20 degree weather!
our red R53 is still on jacks - 15% pulley, belt and plugs going on next, powerflex inserts for the lower engine mount are waiting, too. Cold air intake swapped from my car (which is hibernating till spring and needs a DDM Works to clear the M7 strut bar better). before that, cabin air filter replaced (original had 30k miles of Florida grunge in it), pedal covers from ebay installed (much nicer than the price suggests - the brand name pedal covers are ridiculously overpriced compared to these)
I made it a point to drive the both of them one last time in 2015. Not like it was a big deal, I've driven 'em before.
I would have done the same, because the Rat is on E from moving it in and out of the garage when I'm working out there... I let it come up to full temp before shutting it down. But, as soon as the front tires hit the ice patch in front of the garage, it gets stuck on flat ground! That should make things fun getting this paperweight Mazda out of here Saturday!
Just give it a shove with that 4-wheel drive persuader Dick. It oughta slide right on out'a your way.
I'm not going to be the one doing the pushing! After the argument that the guy that owns it, his wife, and myself got into about why it can't stay here anymore, they can do it! It took me telling him that I was going to start charging $20 per day in storage fees, just to get him on the phone!
Close a deal on the 31st, Neat! HNY Teresa.... I drove the 16 Countryman to lunch, still way to cold for a good cleanup.
vinyl wrapped the red painted dash in the red Mini into a piano black today. Proper 3M 1080 material used made it quite easy for a total wrapping rookie like me. Only two tiny patches needed in the deep vent holes - next time I'll know not to cut until it is all super stretched, because when you heat this stuff, it will actually shrink like window cover plastic (cold climate folks will know what that is). We may do the door frames too, but that's quite a lot of wrap for something that's not really in your face. Not a priority right now. Headliner repair is next - Florida climate did a number on that car's foam and glue. The foam inside the car at the bottom of the tailgate is completely deteriorated, while the headliner seems to crumble below the sagging fabric...
Has anyone on here ever wrapped their whole car? I'm thinking maybe I could have a blue mini for a year or two. If I could find the same blue, Don't remember the name. I like it as much as chili red.
Made an appointment with my indi Mini Tech for next Wednesday. He'll be installing my JCW Pro Tuning Kit and coding my rear fog lights. The Kit will complement my NM Tuning Module and I'm looking forward to the new exhaust system.
