I've got three garage projects going on at once, I wish I didn't, I have to concentrate on three at a time. My projects, 1980 MG B new windshield, paint front end. 1976 Jaguar XJ-12C, re-assemble after repaint. 1952 MG TD continuing restoration, paint, interior. The big push this winter is the Jaguar or maybe the MG B, The Jaguar is cooler, but there is less to do on the MG. See the problem? Do one at a time!
It's a 24X32... Trust me, space is tight with just one project at a time! Now that only the Rat-MINI lives in there, and the mess is mostly gone or organized it should be more bearable when things pick up with painting this spring/summer. I just can't wait to start throwing up the walls for the compressor room!
Took the Mini to work. Usually takes me about 50 minutes one-way. Took quicker way, but will probably be taking the backroads home. Takes a bit longer, but more curvy roads!
I parked my MINI today. When I bought my Mini R 52 in April, my wife made me promise that I would not do any mod's that would render the car inoperable should my mechanical ability fail. She knows me... So, now that's it's cold, I am going to install an oil pressure and boost gauges, a CD changer, my custom coolant recovery tank, and anything else the Modfather paints for me. Yes, I am getting excited about the Dragon.
You've still got some pieces to send me... I was actually thinking about everything left to do for you the other day!
Well I drove it but more importantly I order a new exhaust! I was planing on the Milltek but after talking to the guys at Detroit Tuned I went with the Stratosphere. As always DT was very helpful. Thanks for the help!
The good folks At Detroit Tuned won't ever steer you wrong. How come you didn't buy the sonic blaster? I think Nathan runs that one.
Nothin Still waiting on the clutch foot to heal up. This is the 2nd cast as I pulled a Blimey on New Years and went airborne after getting flipped off my knee scooter. First cast broke my fall. Upside was more pain pills were issued.
Took the long route (detour) to work this morning due to accidents along my normal route. My usual 45 minute drive took 90 minutes. I would still be waiting in line if I took my normal route. One of the accidents involved a car fire. That's okay. About an hour of that drive in involved a line of 3 R53 MINIs motoring together. :biggrin5:
Got my tuning kit installed today. My indi tech/mechanic did a heck of a job for a great price. He even bought pizza for us and the other tech. If you ever need any work done in Raleigh, NC look up Chris at G3 Automotive. Stock system Kit Installed
Not even in the same ballpark. Even with the baffle closed it sounds 100% better. With the baffle open it sounds even better. Lot's of popping and crackling on down shifts and deceleration. I did have to change my NM Power Module to the low setting. With the tuning kit the additional 5 pound of boost was too much for 94 octane. If I fill it up with some 100+ octane I'll go back to the high setting. Until then I'll have to settle for 3 1/2 pounds. The butt dyno reads about a gazillion HP increase. :biggrin5: No serious plans to dyno it, but there is a definite improvement over just the NM module. Spins the tires way too easily and it doesn't seem to run out of breath as fast as it did before. I'm a happy camper!
Ok. So, why in the world would you still be running that piggyback gizmo if you just had the JCW maps dumped into the car? Seems to me like that's just asking for trouble, regardless of NM's claim of safety. (Because I'm sure that is for the stock maps only.)
Looking you before pic, it is still amazing the auto makers still use such convoluted muffler set ups. It was already rusting at the seams and welds.
