Due to water use restrictions in my town, I can only wash my car at home on Saturdays. Unfortunately, it seems that with two kids, my weekends are busier than my weekdays, so that doesn't usually work out for me. I just end up using a self-service car wash near my work. Gets me outta the lab so I don't mind. I just come back to work with wet shoes... :biggrin5:
Stef, you need bite the bullet, find a 5 dollar drive thru HAND car wash and stop soiling your shoes!
I've always wondered what the dynamics are that create the perfect scenario for a nail like that to enter the side wall like that. It just seems like it would be tough to make that happen.... The odds must be staggering.... How many nails would you need run over that are laying flat on the ground and be able to enter the sidewall 90 degrees to the tire.... And yet it happens.....
Twenty plus years ago I had a blow out in my pickup (sidewall). When I went to the tire store they found a 3" piece of copper pipe inside the tire. Looked like a perfect storm for that to happen.
I put new brakes and rotors on my MINI today. The brake light came on and sure enough, the front pads were worn down to the brake wear sensor. The back brakes weren't so bad but I changed the pads and rotors on those too. The car has 30,000 miles on it, shouldn't OEM brake pads last longer than that? How many miles are other MINIs getting on a set of OEM pads?
I replaced my fronts at around 25K miles because of the wear sensor..... But looking at the remaining material on the pads, I could have easily hit 30K for sure..... The wear sensor is set way conservative..... But, moar brake work gets sold as a result....
I'm debating on pulling my wear sensors out of the Porker, and tying them up out of the way... Already at 21,000 miles, and would rather wait until after the Dragon to have MINI replace the brakes.
It warmed up to almost 50 today , so I got Buzz out and gave him a bath - much better now. Of course, I washed the bride's Audi wagon first! Happy wife, happy life.....
