The road leaving my office is about a mile and a half long stretch of road with some straights and some nice bends in it. I was pulling out and some young guy in a charger R/T with "dubs" revved passed a stop sign and gave me a snooty look as he rolled by. SO, Bitsy and I decided to show him that his big ass heavy car with big ass heavy wheels aint s**t. I caught up to him at the first big bend to the left, as he struggled to keep his inside lane I rolled right passed him, hit the straight and stayed in the throttle hard, hit the next bend to the right still in the throttle and the last long straight is right after, I didn't look back untill about half way down the straight which is about an 1/8 mile. He didn't even gain on me thru the straight. Are those chargers as slow as he made it seem? He was giving it all he/the car had. Maybe it's broken?
Now that it's clean, I think your car would look so much nicer roaring down the road, whipping around the twisty bends and seeing a big grin on your face. Then going back in and dusting off your car all over again.
Went to a monthly professional group luncheon meeting and it was the first time we had people show up with all three generations of the modern MINI.
It was a v8. He had a nice-ish sounding exhaust. Aint no punk ass gonna give me side eye as he blows a stop sign... I got up on him quick and walked him Bitsy is a bad bitc* :beer
Picked up my car today...... twice. First time I made it about 20 miles and the CEL came on and the screen said take it easy and call service department. Just prior to this I noticed it seemed down in power. Duh! They told me to bring it back or take it home which ever was closer for me. They were gonna send someone to pick it up tomorrow if I went home. Decided to drive back to dealer and either get it fixed or get another loaner. Anyway, it turned out the boost tube from the intercooler to intake had slipped off the manifold. Voila! Instant Justa Cooper! A spring clip had failed. Took a few minutes to sort it out and drop the belly pan and look everything over one last time. They replaced the motor, a few bits and pieces, and replaced my rear shocks. Ran like a champ all the way home. Now, to put another 900 miles on it and change the oil, re-install my NM module, and maybe an AWE intake (depending on the dyno results). If the weather holds off I'm going to have the wheels and tires mounted Saturday. New TPMS came in a day early.
^^^ Glad to hear everything ended going well for you !! New engine and soon to be new wheels and tires it's almost like Christmas. I don't recall you mentioning anything about your shocks before but that could be old age showing it's ugly head.
Yeah. If that's the only glitch when changing out a motor i'll count myself lucky. I don't know if I mentioned the shocks or not. Right after I got it I noticed the occasional clunk from the rear end. I figured it was a combination of the sport suspension and/or some of the junk in the boot, but after I got it back from the body shop it was emptied out and still I would get the random clunk. Usually happened when the suspension was unloaded going over a hump or RR crossing. I asked them to check it out and they found a TSB about the rear shocks. No part number listed on the work order so I'm calling in the AM to make sure they replaced them with the right shocks.
All Right... That's like getting a new heart transplant... Good on you to change the oil and filter early.... All those new spinning things getting to know each other and all...
