I had the same problem when I changed out brakes and lines on my R56. I've bled a hundred brake systems over my lifetime, but never a Mini. I bought a new brake bleed system and that helped a little, but ended up taking it to my indi Mini tech. He hooked it up to the computer to get the ABS system bled and refilled correctly. While the bleed system is pressurized the computer runs the ABS through a series of operations to get all the air out. A real PITA, but it worked like a champ. On another note... I ordered a new AWE Tuning intake yesterday. Just ticked over 1100 miles on the new motor, so I've got an oil change scheduled for tomorrow and hope to get the new intake and my NM Power Module re-installed this weekend.
the ABS system should never open a valve unless it is actually activated. So bleeding that is almost impossible unless you have that secret computer hookup, but at the same time, I can't imagine any air getting in there while the vehicle is standing. We never drained the reservoir so no air would ever get near that module. We also did a few hard braking runs to possibly clear up the ABS by engaging it (because that's when the valves open, and some internet posts state that that will clear up the system. Doubt it. My next step will be to replace all the bleeders with new speed bleeders. The OEM bleeder valves are wobbly in the threads once opened and huge bubbles get sucked in. My best guess is that this is where the problem originated. Will also power bleed it with the pressure bleeder once I get my proper Mini adapter cap hacked together out of a GM cap with some brass nozzle parts. The universal cover I got with that pump is completely useless and won't hold pressure. If that doesn't work, I guess it's a visit to the Mini service center, probably the same day I get that power steering pump swapped. Still waiting for the letter on that car, while my other Mini has already been recalled.
New Aero scuttles came in today. I ordered them Wednesday. Detroit Tuned gets you your MINI stuff quick Bitsy Mae loves her new accessories!
Replaced one Bridgestone RE760 under Costco warranty. Had picked up a sheet metal screw on the outside edge where they claim no repair possible. Hardly any wear on the tires, so no cost to me. Earlier spent more money on it - DDMWorks intake with K&N filter on the way.
Got the snows taken off my wife's S and decided my 17" R98s are just too big so they are going up for sale soon.
Polished her up inside and out this AM. Headed to Canada for a work project. A week away from my Bitsy Mae. I'll miss her The replacement antenna and sun roof shades should be in when I get home so she'll finally be complete. For now.....
I disagree! There's a limit to how much black looks good on anything... I personally can't stand it when people black out every little piece of chrome on their car! They say the chrome makes the car look "Cheap", well that $10 can of PlastiDip really improved the "Cheapness" doesn't it? It especially looks horrid on lighter/bright colored cars.
I'm not so sure. To me it's not that chrome makes a car look cheap. Race cars don't have chrome(unless it's a classic). My 68'c10 had lots O chrome and I kept it polished. My 80' Z28 had no chrome at all, chrome would have ruined that car. It's not that I don't like chrome, I just don't like chrome on my MINI. Now on the plasti-dip thing, If it's done in several light coats it turns out good. As good as just buying the glossy black trim pieces? No. On my car I think the black trim looks better than if I had left it chrome mainly since it came with black stripes on the hood. If it was a justa with no stripes i'd of left it alone. But it's and S and has the jcw aero kit with the black stripes and window tint so there was already a silver and black theme so I went with it. Hey I kept the rims silver, dammit :beer But I hear ya brother.
Did the same thing.... Was down at the shop yesterday blowing out all the winter cobwebs.... Man I gotta clean the insides of my MINI.... All my running around with the windows down, I could grow some tomatoes back there... :cryin: Gave a small assist to a fellow MINIAC that wanted to shed a couple of his old Texan attributes in place of a couple of his new Buckeye attributes.... T'was a glorious sunny day to be out and about in the MINI...
Yeah.... I know... I thought I was hallucinating... I thought that Texan would be forever generating local parking tickets as a temporary visitor to the area... The local constable shouldn't have too hard a time finding him though... He gotz the same digits....
