I finally bought a trailer (Reese Backpacker) to carry me wife's scooter to the dragon. Got it registered, bought new wheels & tires, and weather seals which I'll do today and clean it up. Starting to get ready for the Dragon...
Refinished my JCW aero side skirts. Stone chips were bad....must have been from the Donut Run last year.
Caught up on some much needed maintenance today. Replaced plugs, wires, coil, and front oxygen sensor.
Spent yesterday tweaking ride height, caster, alignment. Today, removed the seat heater wiring I worked so hard on, and removed the passenger seat, in preparation for a new seat that arrives tomorrow. Gonna sell the Corbeaus, probably have a buyer lined up already. Finally wired the lights on my oil pressure and temp gauges. Drove for about an hour and a half, alignment is perfect. Bliss.
Checked tracking on my bushings and pulley about 5-6 times today. Both are slotted to arrive this week, i only have Friday off so i hope i can get it all done in 1 day. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Over the weekend did the Dave O wheel treatment, painted the rotor hats black, touched up the calipers, trimmed the inside edge of the rear fender plastic for clearance and polished out some scratches.
Clay bar, Swirl, and Epic on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, while watching Stanley Cup playoffs on the garage TV. All I needed was an Old Milwaukee. :beer
I went to Griot's garage with Salish Sea Mini Club for a detailing tech session. They had a new product called a Surface Prep Mitt. It does the same thing as a clay bar, but cleans a much larger area and it lasts a lot longer. I was really impressed with the job it did on the club members car, they used as a demonstration vehicle. Fine Surface Prep Mitt - Griot's Garage
Bushings arrived today according to UPS text. Waiting till Thursday to put them in is going to test my patience. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Euro tag and holder came in, slapped er on. Turned out ok, I wish previous owner woulda n'er put f'n screws in the front bumper in the first place. Also changed the cell phone holder to a one size fit's all sorta clip, in place of the phone case deal-eo. Finally ordered a new strut and mount for the front passanger that's been clunking for months! Gotta get her purdy for the Dragon
Put on the rear plate holder and put my plate on. Also i think they me the wrong bushings. Lower control arm should not be the size of a baseball right? What they sent me is labeled "Front wishbone rear bush" and is literally the size of a baseball. But my receipt says control arm bushing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yeah thats the right one! Has a hexagon hole in the center that's about 1 1/8" from edge to edge... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Man, another day of wrenching on MINIs. Mowed the grass, swapped non-leather seats into the wife's car, which graduated to me doing random odd stuff on the R53 until my dent guy showed up around 4-5 PM. Popped the dents out of the R53, then my buddy decided to head over... and we decided to do brakes on his R53. His front pads were at 1mm, so we just put the rotors and pads I took off of my R53 onto his. Ran into a small snag with a stripped caliper retaining bolt, but we got 'er dun. Just wrapped up, cleaned up the garage and all. Tomorrow my Star Specs show up.
