ok, so they didn't forget the engine mount, but what they let me drive home is difficult to understand: The new PS fan makes hard permanent contact with the top of the Fumoto drain. It is already bent and there is a good amount of oil leaking from the bottom of it. WTF doesn't even begin to describe it. They could have called, I would have gladly paid for a new regular plug as I don't even use it any longer after buying a vacuum oil change pump. The test drove the car and didn't say a thing... Going up my steep driveway, the engine drain slapped so hard against that fan, I thought my suspension was broken again. Going to do an oil change (after 1800 miles...) tonight, change the plug, bend that new fan into proper position, as it looks totally out of place, nowhere near the location where the old fan was located, or am I imagining things? Hard contact between fan and top of drain full install - what's up with that fan at this shallow angle? the fresh Mobil 1 is dripping...
Well, I bought a MaxJax for my MINI. Guess that kinda counts. It's an enabler. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Interesting, I purchase a Fumoto for my FL '05 a few years ago and it had the same clearance problem. At the time, I didn't just want to bend the fan up and just used it on another car. I wondered how so many MINI owners were using one without seeing any posts about it hitting the fan. Hidden problems, shortcuts, and unnecessary "test" drives are reasons I don't like to bring any of my cars in for service. :frown5:
Today I've been tackling some door seam rust I found. One more coat to go on the driver's side and passenger side door seams - then I just need to let it set and cure.
I think rust is like car cancer. You got to catch it early and get it removed or it will spread. Not to make lite of real cancer for people or pets.
I appreciate the brakes on my MINI. Some bonehead ran a stop sign from a sidestreet into traffic. It was his meaning in life to put everybody else in danger just so he could get in front of a MINI.
Don't forget ByteTronik Dave... That one should be second on the list... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Changed the earl in my little roadster & completed an under car & brake inspection. The brakes look new, I better drive harder. My smoothness is something my brakes like. I plan to go over to my buddy's at the local Discount tire for a balance & rotation. My car rides so smooth now. I'm a bit worried it won't be after a new balance. Meotters are very sensitive to wheel balance. What do you guys think?
Added some eye lids and started un-dipping and replacing said dip with vinyl wrap. Headlight rings are done, the rest will be done this weekend. She also gets an alignment this afternoon.
Just use vinyl in your choice of color... Takes like 10 minutes... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
