You’ve not seen a dirty car until you’ve run a 3 hour Enduro in the rain. Light rain seems to be worse than a deluge. On a side note, but semi related to my tangent: You’ve not been wet until you’ve driven a formula car in the rain.

What I did in my Mini today was apparently picked up a nail in the tire and now I have a flat.

Spent 4 1/2 hours on the I-40 slab coming home. Only thing that broke the monotony was coming across Black mountain in heavy fog. Cleaned the Mini up and am trying to get my new Mac Air and iPad Air synced up. Plan to use the iPad to run Carly Connected on when they release the coding for the F cars. They update the software so often on these cars that it's a waste of time to pay to have custom coding done. I had Helix do a bunch of coding on the car at MOTD and six days later I lost it all when updating the software after the JCW BBK install.

In the winter, we get something I call "Dallas Drizzle." Just enough "mist" to get the streets wet enough to get the windshield filthy, but not enough to get it wet enough for the wipers. The rest of the car turns tan, too. Nasty stuff.

My MINI and I spent the weekend going to the vintage races at Mid-Ohio. Lot of great cars. Shelby was the featured marque.

I took off my wheels and cleaned, machine polished and glass (22ple) sealed all four. Also took my dirty corroded wheel bolts and cut and buffed them back to a nice shiny finish.

I just could not put dirty bolts back on with clean wheel.

Went to the body shop today and checked up on my Countryman PL, it was in the paint booth baking, under those harsh lights hard to tell the color match. But the entire bonnet and bumper are painted they claim the proper Earl Gray.

Forgot to take pictures, it was a fast visit. They will get it put back together and send it down to the dealer for the clear bra application. It seems the contract tech. cannot do a one piece application on the CM front bumper like the dealer folks did when I bought the car.

So sad, Geico gets to pay some more!

Should have her back I hope for the weekend, I sure hope so, it was supposed to be an in and out, in on the 20th and out on the 24th.

I will post pictures, if they are not repainting it next week.

    :(

Will do! They'll be in next week by wednesday. They're 18lbs, I've heard that the R112 Challenge wheels are about 23lbs. I can't wait to see if the weight difference will matter :) Also, I'll be throwing on some Good Year F1 Asymmetric 2's on these (I think).

So far I put Peppy in front service mode so I can replace my alternator, as soon as it gets here. That's when I realized how dirty it is under the bonnet. looks like its never been cleaned, so the last 5 hours have been the start of a deep cleaning. good thing I'm off work for the next 5 days.

The wheels are gonna look great. I'm running the Eagle F1 Asymmetric tires on my car and like them a lot.
If you're serious about installing Goodyears I have a code I can give you that'll save you 20% on a set of tires. I retired from Goodyear and get a few codes every year for 35% and 20% off. I have a couple of the 20% codes left if you want one. PM me for details.

I had some 10.5 pound BBS wheels on my Miata I used for street and track. The lower unsprung weight does make a difference. Much more composure over bumps.

Just be careful not to buy lighter wheels and heavier tires, or they can cancel each other out.

Nothing going on today, but tomorrow I need to do a little minor detailing. My MINI will be hanging out with Porsches, Lambos and Ferraris on Sunday at a Kaboom Town party at RAC Performance, so it needs to be presentable. RAC is right across the street from Addison Airport, where they do a killer fireworks show on July 3 every year.
