Nice to hear that the body shop did a good job. The ding is probably a paintless dent repair job (I hope). And, yes, clear shield (mask,bra... whatever) "kits" suck. The only way to do it is to hand cut it on the car, which only the best can do.

    Looks great.

FYI Everybody the new clear stuff is called Paint Protection Film or PPF. Xpel is at the top of the list.

Got them on! She turned out pretty good :) Also, I don't need wheel spacers any more :cornut: Question though guys, Does a change in offset require an alignment?

No it shouldn't, but if its been a while you should have it done just to make sure your new everything is correct. If not you will notice unusual tire wear on your new setup.

Short and sweet, the collision center set me up with a PDR for the door ding (nit), said they would cover it. Sure they did not do it, but wanted me 100% happy. Good folks.

Considering it was in the shop for 14 days, at the MINI dealer for 2 days for Mask and warranty work and the flat bed two times, it could have happened anywhere. Glad they stepped up!

If in Colorado and in need, Fisher Auto Collision in Boulder is the place, 100% Lifetime guarantee on the paint work and the clear mask put on by Schomp MINI is 100 lifetime guarantee too.

I am a happy MINI PL owner again.

    :)

Got our second comfort access key programmed a few days ago. Love this feature.

Also, installed the front mud flaps. Pay no attention to the fact that it needs to desperately be washed. :D

Got my free new power steering pump installed at MINI of Portland. Nice and pain free. Only took them about an hour and 15 to do. Great service.

Yes, I know about lifetime stuff, hopefully I will not have to deal with it. :)

I did get the PDR done this morning, they got most of it out, now I don't go "whoa, who hit my door", but I know it is there.... :(

The techs, it took two of them to work most of it out did not want to take the door apart and the CM door has structural area for safety right at the point of impact. The guys said the ding had to be from above and pretty hard to make the dent, so I suspect a light tipped over in the paint booth as they were working the clear coat. Oh well!

I have a lot of cleanup to do, folks in the shop do not wash their hands, must be my OCD kicking in again.

    :(

I agree. If your tires were wearing properly before, you should be okay. It never hurts to do an alignment with new tires, just to get maximum life from them, but if you don't do it, really watch your wear.

I'm not into black wheels, but it looks pretty good on your car.

Tinkering on the ol' girl today and got a question-
I've had the car aligned after wheel and tire install, and just today I've swapped the front and rear wheels and I still get a shake at speed. It's not all the time it's kind of intermetten, comes and goes but it's steady. I've checked out the axles and they look straight as can be. I've cleaned off the surface where the wheel contacts the rotor on all 4. Mind you the car drove perfectly smooth with the old wheels.
Now, I've had some grabbing for couple months happening with the brakes that I don't feel when I'm on the brakes hard, but on a casual regular stop it feels grabby kinda like bad rotors but if the rotors were bad I'd feel it under hard braking.. I think.
Could the problem just be the grabby brakes, and the new wheels being a different offset just exaggerate an existing "issue"?

Today was a milestone for me. I actually drove my MINI. After coming back from the Dragon I parked the MINI in the garage and it hasn't moved as I was booked up surgeries , dental crap, and cancer. Had a lung surgery on 6/24/16 and the result...I am cancer free as the cancer did not spread to my lymph nodes. The surgeon got it all, along with part of my lung. I can truly say I am blessed on this one. See ya'll at the Dragon next year. :) :)
