In Portland today. Unfortunately the rental isn't a Mini, but I've seen TONS of them up here! Sent from my GT-P5113 using Tapatalk
Time to change the oil. Finally feeling well enough to work on the car. Took a short drive later as the sun was setting. Hate to say it, but kind of forgot what fun the R53 is to drive. For the most part that car hasn't been driven since the end of 2015.
If you buy a set of Rhino ramps you will make your oil changes a bit easier. No jack or jack-stands required. I'm glad you are feeling better Jeff.
Yesterday, took a drive to meet up with some MINI folks. It was supposed to be a detail/picnic, but the weather decided it was just to be a picnic... in their garage.
Tried autocross event, for the 1st time..it was fun ..offcourse, i topped the batch (from last) ... Thanks Brian for the tips during the run.. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using Tapatalk
Drove my MINI to the airport, and parked in covered parking, of course, at the Parking Spot. Got a call at 5PM, and I'm flying to San Jose tonight. I'm photographing a couple of million dollar cars tomorrow. And yes, I will drive them. The owner is a really cool guy. The only car I have EVER damaged while shooting cars was one of his -- a 72 Ferrari that I chipped -- I felt really bad about the car, and he felt really bad for me that I felt so bad about the car. We have since spent hours at the bar talking cars -- he won't let me pay. CD
Glad you had fun! You ended the day almost 6 seconds faster from where you started, so that is good progress! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes...based on my driving thats a good progress...still a lot to learnnnnn Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using Tapatalk
Went to the Museum of Flight in Seattle. One of our MINI Club Members is a Docent at the Museum and got us free tickets. We got a private tour, really cool!
Not today, but yesterday, took my '70 for a spin to my buddy's house. Got the race car back together and ready for our next outing.
Rear Seat Delete and some custom rear seat floor pans. (details in my build thread) http://www.motoringalliance.com/forums/project-car-builds/14654-hit-milestone-still-making-changes-8.html
Bitsy Mae and myself found out today that the newer Mustang GT's are WAY faster than the old ones... Going 125+ in the morning will get you going more than coffee will Following our lil fun run down an empty 2 lane road we ended up at a red light together. He was very cool, I said to him it's not every morning I'm up over a buck 20 and he says, "I'm ready for work now!" with a big laugh. Needless to say the light turned green, I fudged the launch (I NEVER drag my MINI) He blew Bitsy's doors clean off, not that I woulda really stood a chance, but I will say a rolling start would be A LOT closer, once the turbo got off it's lazy a$$ he didn't pull on me much. He turned off and threw me a peace sign. Great way to start the day :cornut:
Drove it to work for the first time since late last year On the way home i passed a state trooper heading the other way. He stared me down as he passed. Sure enough, I watched out the mirror and he flipped around in a driveway!! I thought I was busted but then I realized I wasn't speeding!! Sure enough he caught up to me a couple miles later at the next stop sign. Pulled along side and turned the other way. Kinda Weird. Maybe he was just a fan of the R53!!
Took the Justa down to M.A.G. in Dublin, OH, to have the passenger seat sensor mat replaced under recall. Good day out with my dearly beloved. Oh, and the wife came along as well.
I did NOT wash my MINI today. I didn't wash it yesterday, and probably won't wash it tomorrow. Why? Because it is too freakin' HOT! Since it hasn't rained in weeks, my MINI is actually pretty clean. Not Dave.0 clean, but it will never be THAT clean. They make meds for OCD, and I take them. Dave, you might want to discuss them with your physician. CD
I got a killer "reward" from the hotel company I use for business. 89-bucks on a weekend at a hotel that usually charges about two-fiddy a night. So, me and the MINI are spending the night in a swanky hotel within walking distance of great restaurants -- where I can run the AC on freeze-out and it won't effect my electricity bill. The MINI also got the privilege of parking in the closest, safest parking spaces, which are reserved for "low-emissions and fuel-efficient vehicles only." If cars had feelings, my MINI would probably be thinking, "How ya' like me now, Escalade biatches." (sound of mic dropping)
