How about this one from ECS Tuning - 6 point 1/2 inch drive, not too long, not too expensive. https://www.ecstuning.com/b-schwaben-parts/27mm-6-point-socket-1-2-drive/s-1227s/ Or this low profile 3/8 drive from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/STEELMAN-95646-Filter-Socket-Mercedes-Benz/dp/B00KMULLY2/ref=sr_1_5?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1479522033&sr=1-5&keywords=low+profile+3%2F8+drive+27+mm+socket
If you have a 1 1/16" socket in your tool box, that will work too, as will a 1 1/8" If you have a Northern Tool store in your 'hood, they probably will have a 27mm for a reasonable price. Edit: yep, they have them - $4.59 http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200654051_200654051
Installed the strut tower defenders and then pulled off back tires to look for source of rear wheel squeal. Right rear rotor is much harder to rotate then left rear, and the right outside pad is much more worn then the left one. I am getting soft in my old age and called it a night because the temp has dropped to 28 degrees and the wind is picking up. I guess I will take it apart tomorrow.
This one's more like what I was looking for - low profile 1/2" drive from OutMotoring: http://www.outmotoring.com/mini-cooper/mini_cooper_oil_filter_socket_27mm.html I have a gen 1 R50, so only have the 36 mm ones at home.
Ummmmmm.... Outmotoring maybe.....:biggrin5: That's where I got mine.... Why?....Because..... Supports M/A...
After the oil change on my wife car I clayed and waxed it. Then my wife and I took my mini to have my birthday dinner. She gave me this present. I shoot almost only film, I guess now I can learn digital. She is a great wife!
I changed my oil too. I must be driving more, I usually get to 5000 miles on an oil change in May, but here it is, November, and the clock ticked over to 35000 miles. OEM filter, 1 1/8" socket and Mobil 1 0W40
Swapped summer to winter wheels/tires on both our cars, cleaned and relubed the brake caliper bushings and pins that have the TyrolSport metal ones installed.
My original, OEM, 7 year old battery finally died trying to start the car on this 30* morning so Monday I'll be picking up a new one......and filling the tires so the TPMS lights will go out.
I just use a hand pump. It takes about 10 pumps per psi. Have one in each car as well as Dynaplug kits and the little spares. Lots of pumping twice a year when I put on winter or summer tires on 2 cars, since they usually need about 5-10 psi each after sitting in the basement for 1/2 a year. I have a little compressor that plugs into the cig lighter, but it takes too long and I'm impatient.
Took my wife in the MINI to our new favorite breakfast place in German Village this morning.... We both had their special..... Grits and shrimp (grits had pimento cheese mixed in) Fresh made "griddle biscuits" with butter and raspberry preserves.....
My poor MINi is going back to airport parking at 0-dark-thirty Monday morning. It gets a vacation after that for Thanksgiving weekend, but I'm afraid it goes back to the airport for a good part of the next few weeks. I did reserve covered parking in a secured lot. They offer washing and detailing services, but I don't have any "data" on how good a job they do, so I'll pass, for now. When I park my MINI in the morning, I'll try to make it feel better by telling it I'll be spending the next 48 hours in Kansas. I think it should be happy I didn't decide to drive. CD
Just got home after a week in Hong Kong and swapped out the summer tires for winter tires. Then noticed the outdoor temperatures warmed up. :frown2:
Bought a new battery to replace the 8 year old OEM one in my Clubman, then got discouraged when I saw how much of the car I have to disassemble to get it out and the new one back in. So I put the battery charger on it, it still works fine I just figured it was due because of the age. Maybe this weekend I can dive into this project.....oops, just remembered it's Thanksgiving weekend and we'll be out of town.
