My previous passion was for air-cooled VWs. Talk about easy to work on... Seems like all you needed was a 10 and 13 mm wrench and a BFH that helped a lot. now, the only tool I need for my MINI is a credit card and AAA. So sad...

Some guy with his VW Jetta (with snowtires on) was stuck in the sideways in the middle of the road. Blocking the street. It was a sidestreet covered in ice and snow. I was walking to my car.

I pulled out my shovel and helped dig around the wheels and then rocked the car back and forth and eventually, he caught enough traction to get going.

Then I put my shovel away, got in my car and drove off. Puts to shame all these guys in their SUVs.

Then I saw another VW (Golf) stuck in the snow. I wasn't going to help this one out. What's with VWs in snow?

I think it's more "what's with VW drivers in the snow", my Caddy always got around just fine, and it was on all seasons.

I had a 1967 London taxi with a 45 hp four cylinder diesel in it, it weighed around 6000 lbs.

With its tall skinny tires, it was the best snow car I've had, I couldn't spin the tires even in the snow.

Made plans to get my car tomorrow; the bushings finally arrived and they were installing them when I called. All that is left is an alignment and test drive.

Did nothing to my car yesterday or today since it's warm and clean in my garage. 14 degrees outside this morning.

Had to move my dune buggy in Feb in the snow one year. Talk about getting a lot of strange looks.

Seems to be a lot of that going around, so far my garage has stayed warm enough.

We did get into the high 40s today, Happy Winter Solstice to all of you.

Went to see the new light show at Cincinnati's Coney Island. All of the 1000's of lights were synchronized to modern Christmas music. It was like driving through a musical forest of lights. Of course, we had the top down as it was a balmy 28 degrees.

I "installed" a NOS glove box organizer I bought through Craigslist while I was in Texas. The lady said she sold her Mini because she was getting too many speeding tickets.

I went and got my rental car for christmas travel to Houston, and tucked the MINI safely in the garage. The drive from Dallas to Houston and back is not fun, and puts more wear and tear on a car then a trip of that distance should.

I got a free upgrade, too -- a loaded Dodge Charger with AWD.
