Might snow here today (metro DC area). I have yet to drive Sprout in anything more than rain. Are there any gotchas that I should keep in mind? I did grow up and learn to drive in a snowy climate -- I'm not from around here -- so I do have the general driving-in-snow concepts down.
I find that the MINI handles very well in snow... just not when there is too much of it. I just have the option now to drive the tank instead of the MINI in snowy weather :cornut:
Thanks, good to know. My 350Z's traction control does fine in just a little snow, but it stays parked if there's more than 2". My Cobra (rear wheel, high torque) was like trying to steer an ice skate. Sounds like the MINI will be an improvement -- although maybe similar to the Z. Up until last week, my son's 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee was a snowy-day option, until some moron decided to stop in moving traffic -- for no reason -- right in front of him. Sigh. It's always something, LOL.
Stared at it and contemplated what to do with the second DMF that is now dying... Anyone know of an aftermarket single mass flywheel and clutch set-up that isn't $1,700 from OS Giken?
Personally, I'd just buy the Giken and be done with it... especially since this is the second time. Or you could really go extreme and just buy another car like I did
:cornut: I got my new CD:The Best of Dire Straits & Mark Knopfler:cornut:. Very nostalgic for me as I was flying night helicopter patrol as a SAR DMO(search and rescue[scuba] diving medical officer) with 160th SOAR(special operations air regiment) from(oil drilling) Barges Hercules and Wimbrown during(Operation Ernest Will) Dire Straits: Straits of Hormuz world tour(very popular band then 1987-88) that included those smash hits: The Bridgeton, The Pegasus, and other merchantmen and monitoring the radio listening to Capt 'Rough Sand Johnny' screaming "Mine,Mine,Mine!" ANYWAY...........Dire Straits, Mini Margi,Starbucks, cigars, and I are motoring up the Texas country lanes of Montague(appropriate name eh?)County to the Ghost Town of Spanish Fort Texas on the Red River. Jason Addendum:those were exciting adrenalin filled days when I was a young soldier, stupid, and bullet proof.
I'd like to goto Keith but he is a 2hr drive from Austin, and a two day drive right now from Arcadia, CA. Besides, I can't afford $2,700+($1,700 for parts AT LEAST $1,000 labor) for a clutch and flywheel plus install. No, I can't do it myself as this is my daily driver and I dont have mechanical knowledge or tools, plus many other reasons. Are those the only two options out there? OS Giken or OEM? I love my MINI but for the cost to fix stuff and non-existant aftermarket I'm sorely tempted to go back to a Mustang. :eek6:
:cornut: 4yrs ago we got our once in 10yrs foot of snow. The DSC is like 'input from God' on icy bridges but, after 4yrs, I now know why I couldn't get up that hill. Thanks jbewley. Jason
