The Mistress is fine and she was driven hard in the rain Saturday morning on the PA turnpike at 5:45 am at triple digit speeds. The PA Turnpike is still the best NE "autobahn" with no cops and 3 lanes wide open early in the morning. I took her out of the garage today and removed the belt line trim, clayed behind it, clayed all the windows and the bumpers and washed the whole car. She is sitting in the garage now waiting for me to continue tomorrow after work.
I just installed a NAVDY HUD on my '15 MCS.. I like it a lot so far, but I'm still getting used to it. I prefer the dash display over either the OEM or aftermarket version from Mini. Multiple choices for info displayed including music album art, speedo, tach, and choice of two aux gauges. Also has a built in GPS that give you visual and audible turn by turn instruction. You can also control SIRI, your music, and telephone calls with it. Super easy install. Download app to your phone, decide on mounting location, route the single cable and plug into OBD II port and turn it on. Took me about 15 minutes, and I'm old and slow. I like it a lot better than the OEM HUD that was in the F55 loaner I had for two weeks while they replaced my motor. Paid $370 USD on eBay for a new unit including shipping. It comes with three mounts of different heights. I use the short mount. I just took about 20 pictures and only one was halfway salvageable. The outer ring is the tach and the speed is supplied by the internal GPS. The pictures of the navigation screens weren't useable. Good pictures on their site if anyones interested. https://www.navdy.com/?gclid=CjwKEAjwr_rIBRDJzq-Z-LC_2HgSJADoL57H7NYcP4pEVuY9GOkuaEWtEnhX5r7dqMcN-1OB1KCuRhoCBJLw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds#see-the-road
That's awesome. I've wanted to top out mine, but highest I've gotten is 125 then slowed down, traffic was coming up quick. The belt line trim just lifts up yes? No adhesive required when re-installed? Been wanting to clean behind mine also.
I have passed 140 several times. As for the R53 belt line trim the back 3 pieces are held in by clips and if you start at the trunk corner you can just pull them out by pulling the ends away from the car. (not up) The door trim is just pressed on and it is a little harder to lift the first time. The windshield beltline trim is held in the same way but each end has (1) #2 Phillips screw holding down the end. All you have to do I pull out a door weather-stripping a little by the end of the trim so you can access it. Also the windshield two come apart in the middle. I remove the trim when I do beltline black outs for people because it is much easier then working around wiper arms and mirrors. "Work smarter, not harder".....:ihih:
Remember how many Sewing Site mods would be running around with their hair on fire after such a statement?
I'm sure Dave O was running 64.9. Spent the morning giving the spa treatment to the little roadster that lives here. Nothing prettier that a spankin clean car.
I spent my time in the garage for 5 hours polishing my MINI. Yesterday I washed, clayed and washed it again.
Left the Runt at home and took the Helmet to work. All day no rain. Then on the way home it rains! Time for a bath.
Crossed a mileage milestone and coughed up a check engine light code of P0136. Took her down to get a new O2 sensor installed.
Painted the M7 strut tower brace and took some goo gone to the JCW intercooler cover, removing the gunk that the gasket leaves.
MINI is still in the garage so I ceramic glass coated it and it's getting cured now under the heat from lights for the night. I am going to do a second coat tomorrow after work.
1. Michelin 215x 40 x 18 Pilot Sport A/S 3+ Tires. Nicest tires I have ever had. Smooth quiet more grippy than previous ones. They have new rubber compound. 2. 84 k on the clock. Replaced Power Steering pump and cooling fan with OEM - not rebuilt. I had three episodes of steering failure and the motor whined continously.
I've been channeling my inner Dave the detailer. Tuesday & Wednesday were clean the roadster & lay a coat of Rejex on it. Done & beautiful. Today was warsh the German bread-van & lay a coat of Sonax Speed Wax on. Done, beautiful & slicker than snot. Then a back road drive on a wonderful day in the roadster to one of our favorite little lunch places. Life is good with my sweetie by my side. :goaljnky MINI content>>>> Tomorrow is clubman day in the garage.
