Not with a Mini (as i donot have it anymore .. but started my road trip to Rhode Island, from Phoenix, AZ via Seattle , WA in my Dodge Challenger. It was initially planned with Mini TOY , but things got changed...
RedBeard Do you know what ship you are on? And which port you are headed to? It's typically about a week from port to dealer for a priority 1 ordered car. Transit is 12 to 17 days for the East Coast depending on port calls before yours.
Yesterday we topped off the oil and rinsed off the dust. Now it's resting in the garage while I contemplate which catch can to order. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Took it in to the dealer today for a CEL and musty smell from A/C when I first start the car. Fault 1B8302. Replaced the radiator. While it was in, they changed the oil and filter, flushed and replaced brake fluid, cleaned the A/C evaporator and replaced the cabin filter, replaced all the wiper blades, and did a software update. Long day, but didn't cost me a nickel, and they even threw in a Mini first aid kit. I did have a loaner to take to lunch and a Doc's appointment. Brand new F56 Justa with the anemic 3 banger and basic auto trans. Thing didn't even have a "sport" switch! Can't complain though, it got the job done. Struggled in traffic, but was fine on the interstate cruising effortlessly at 75-80 mph.
Why would a "radiator" give you a musty smell in the cabin? To me a radiator is the thing in front of the car that your antifreeze coolant goes in. Are they talking about the A/C evaporator? And if it's the evaporator, I wonder about the catalyst sensor? Wonder what that is? No wonder our cars are so damned expensive.....
I didn't do a thing with my MINI today, but the good folks at McWilliams Collision are spraying some primer on her this morning! :beer Also, the Versa still sucks and NO I haven't been able to wrangle up a replacement. Which is insane BUT and not worth getting in to. I'll have my favorite car back next week sometime after I get back from Halifax.
Radiator had nothing to do with the smell. The sensor was throwing the CEL and for some reason they can't just replace the sensor, sooo.... the new radiator. The musty smell was a different problem that has been popping up in the 3rd gen cars since '15 I think. Something to do with the design of the cabin filter and holder I think. Second time they've "fixed" mine. This is the "fix".
Sorry, I just saw this. Yeah, it's on the Drive Green Highway. Just docked in Georgia today. Mine will be dropped in Galveston, TX. So, I think I will be the next stop in like 3 or 4 days.
With the probability of Mr. Murphy lurking around, I think I'd use the word "offloaded" rather than "dropped". :fingerscrossed:
I had a funky smell from my air conditioner. I found a mouse nest in the cabin air filter, it was a big pile of moss. I cleaned it out and wiped it down with disinfectant and got a new cabin air filter. Then I made a grill out of metal gutter screen for the cabin air intake behind the battery, no problems ever since.
Ethel went to the drive in "Field of Dreams" last night (our first trip to the drive in in 30 years) with the N.E.W. club. We only stayed for the 1st movie but using the car on in non-driving mode. (hit start without foot on the brake) the climate control ran for the movie so we didn't have to let the bugs in. I had to find how to shut off the DRL's since they want to be on in that mode and are quite bright. It was a great time of games before the movies and fun was had by all.
Cleaned up my car a little for a send off - gathering for Marzo before he leaves Philly / Helix to join the crew at Detroit Tuned. Detroit is getting a great tech, but we are all loosing a great friend. Philly's loss is Detroit HUGE gain. See you at the Dragon next year, best of luck to you and Steph.
Washed the clubman and spent a lot of time claying off some white paint from fresh road stripes that had splashed on the passenger side. I was going to give it an oil change to but noticed the air duct from the turbo to the air filter was cracked just next to the hose clamp on the turbo side. I usually move this out of the way to get better access to the oil filter. The oil change is going to wait until I replace the air duct. Also noticed that the vent pipe from said air duct is not tight and is allowing oil out. I'll take a look at that when I replace the duct.
