You should have seen me blot off 12 years worth of hardened lady's hand cream from the steering wheel. The detailing brush was just foaming it up... Strangely satisfying to have that leather friction return from a state of hardened gripless teflon. Then you try just a little corner of the the dash. When and see grime foam up from the plastic texture, you can't stop yourself. Next thing you know, you are working your way across the dash, one 6x6" square after another. Sidenote - still looking for a vanity plate idea. "OCD" is already taken in my state. DAVEOJR should be available  I still have half a car to go with just that brush. Carpet and seats will meet the hot water extractor next. Rear seats won't go back in. Need to find some decent black carpet for a DIY rear seat delete lid like in my dark gray R53
I detailed a Subaru Outback this past weekend and steering wheel was gray from all the damn hand cream. It was easy to take off and when she saw the car I told her steering wheel was really Black not gray. Also had to clean the door handle and wiper and turn signal stalks because the were also gray. I told her lay off the hand lotion, you have an issue.
When I went out to my car this morning, it looked like it had dandruff. There were many tiny specks of ash from the forest fires in eastern Washington. I keep the car in a carport, but the ash got on it anyway. It all blew off when I drove it.
There aren't enough hours in the day to go over that new car... Last night I spent another 3 hours cleaning the interior plus the hatch gasket area. Almost done with that except for the carpet refresh. Cabin air filter was 12 years old... :frown2: The driver side door puddle light has no wire leading to it. Connecting that with a printout found in the glove box that describes window lifter replacement, I assume that was the door the work was done on, and somebody disconnected the light. Was too lazy to pull the door card just for that, but it is on the to do list. I will need new door levers - the same hand lotion gunk that was on the wheel seems to have partially dissolved the black plastic actuator in the door handle Hope to get to the front seats today - my Bissel wet carpet cleaner with small hand unit is standing by. wished you could rent the pro gear, but all you can find are the large carpet-only units without the small wand you'd want for a car detail.
Drove mine an hour west to attend a European car show with my oldest daughter. There were Porsche's, BMW's, Citroen's and even an orange Lamborghini Muria. Her favorite was a red MG T-type. I guess she's about the right size to drive it. Today was a great day to get out and drive. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Took mine out of the garage today to run a few errands. Nice cool weather with a perfectly working meth kit is a lot of fun to drive with grippy tires on. :cornut::ihih: FedEx showed up with my new ViPEC and innovative O2 wide band. Now I am waiting on my new RMW CAM. Car will get a nice bump of RMW power this winter.
Took a long drive today. Ended at the local Volunteer Fire Department where they were holding a BBQ dinner to raise money for medical expenses for a friends Grandson. Good food, good cause, good day for a drive. Saw some nice vintage muscle cars at the event too.
A shipment with parts for the blue car arrived, including top motor mount, bold for that, idler pulley, phone mount, lug nuts for the dark gray car's new longer studs, etc... Then I spent most of the day cleaning seats and carpets with the hot water extractor Bissel thing, which works quite well for a consumer level device. At least 20 gallons of brown muck pulled out of the fabric of seats, floor mats and carpet. The passenger carpet below the seat area generated the most extracted dirt - my money is on a spilled Starbucks Latte. I still may pull the carpet on that side of the car before the seats go back in so I can get the crud that has found its way through the cut for the cables that connect to the seat, but I may leaving that for another day. one bucket of Starbucks came free with the car Also invested in new jack stands for the Minis - I spend too much time under these cars to put my life in Harbor Freight's hands :frown2:
Parked my car outside last night and prepped my wife's Lexus Rx350 for Gyeon Prome coating today. After I was done I got to top off the day watching OHIO STATE LOOSE at Home at the horseshoe.
Helped my buddy put a new fuel tank in his Classic Mini Panel. Got the race car ready for Sears Point yesterday. Car show here at home in two weeks.
Watched the MINI GP Concept video with interest. Sadly, at 56 sec in, they reveal it comes in automatic transmission. :nonod: The MINI John Cooper Works GP Concept: For The Few So it's not really for the few...
I think you mis-heard. They said: "Here's for the Phew!" It stinks so badly that they give you special burn-out scented air freshener to cover the stench of this GP release... OK... I'm not really hating on the GP. I love the gen 1 GP and haven't been in any of them after that. I just couldn't resist being punny.
I'm a phan of the dual clutch box of cogs, but what do I know? That GP has many more problems than it's CVT transmission.
Yeah, a Navi screen just doesn't go with a race car like the GP is supposed to be. All it should have is a gas gauge and a tach.
