Figured out that my radiator fan motor has failed.

Shopping for a radiator fan motor assembly.
Trying to decide if I should get the original MINI unit at a very expensive price, or aftermarket at 1/3 the price.

Amazon has them for really cheap (inexpensive) but the reviews look mixed.

Remember Amazon parts are ok but it’s the people that install them that cause the problems.

Surprise of surprises, both MINIs are still clean, just dusty. Our weather has been lurking in the 40s and 50s most days, so I hope some of it goes East for you folks in the snowy part of the country.

I think I will go take a nap, good lunch today and about a 1 mile trip in my MINI. At least it got warmed up. :)

Did the under-bonnet pre-flight on Babs cluster this morning. She's been flyin low all day. All the salt has been rinsed off thanks to Mother Nature's car warsh. All set for the next load of ice, snow & salt.

83,000 miles & it still uses no oil & runs like a top. :)

I will be doing nothin with said Minis. It’s snowing here and this town doesn’t look good in snow! I wish I had garage space for my wife’s convertible but the Helmet is taking up that space.

Local MINI dealer gave my family tickets to a private screening of the Star Wars (The Last Jedi) movie. The tickets were from MINI Canada to celebrate record breaking sales last year. So a whole bunch of MINIs took over a corner of the parking lot.

Oil change and trans fluid change on my MINI. Still too effing cold outside to hand wash.

I also detailed a nice set of aftermarket summer wheels for my buddies BMW M2. He had me do them last year but rim rashed two and had them repaired. Whoever he used did a great job and I knew what rim was repaired but I could not find any traces of the repair. :)

I stripped all the tar and crud off the inner barrels and prepped them for a nice coating of Gyeon Prime ceramic coating. Everything came off very easy because I coated them last year. They turned out great just like last year. Brake dust and crud will not stick or harm these wheels next Summer.

I managed to squeeze in a hand wash on the 2003 Friday afternoon between meetings and rain showers when it hit 62 degrees. Back to arctic freeze 24 hours later. This winter sucks in the Northeast.

Forgive the winter wheels and ride height, changes are coming soon...

My MINI needs a wash, but I'm going to leave it at the airport in two days, so I'm going to wait until I get back from Scottsdale.

Just got an 05 MCS. It has DDM Works intake, catback exhaust, and I just noticed that it has the 17% pulley. Do I need to upgrade the intercooler at all?

Crap! I just read that we may get sleet/ice Monday night, which means TX-DOT will be spreading sand on bridges and overpasses. By "sand," I mean this really grainy dirt with small rocks in it. Good thing I didn't decide to wash the MINI. In fact, I need to get some really wide masking tape and do some "track-day" taping, to protect my frontal surfaces from sand-blasting and stone chips.

No, your stock Intercooler is good and still better then aftermarket ones. The aftermarket one may cool a little more but take a lot longer to recover from heatsoak.

The only thing better is the 1st gen OEM GP Intercooler but not by a huge amount.

@MCS0518 No you don’t. I have had a 17% pulley for years and have the stock intercooler. I live in the south, on hot days if I sit at a lite I can tell my intercooler gets heat soaked. The GP intercooler is the best one for the R53. Your other option would be meth. With meth you can keep your stock intercooler. It well also bring intak temperatures back down to near ambient.

Meth kit cost about $900 + install, custom tank, and VP M1 methanol.

I know, have one, and love it.

I appreciate the info about keeping the stock intercooler. I am here in the south too, Savannah area. I'll look into the meth thing too.
