It's been cold in the south so didn't do an actual wash but did wipe her down with some Griot's spray detailer. I'm becoming more and more of a fan of the spray cleaners/detailers. Anyways, the MINI's good! We're fast approaching 100k and she's running great. ((knocks on wood)) Also Rain-X'd the windshield.
Repaired a small crack in my bumper today after pulling in too close to the snow blower. Also stripped, polished and Gyeon Prime coated the bumper twice. Looks like nothing happened.
Deleted the rear wiper. Now just need to get around to removing the headlight washer bottle assembly that's behind the fender. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
I placed a box with new H7 LED bulbs on the car cover under which the Mini is hibernating. I may try to install them this weekend when the garage may get back up to about 40F with a few space heaters
My poor MINI is at DFW, in the covered section of their Express parking. It is 19F degrees right now where it is parked. It is also VERY dirty from the sand/dirt TXDOT spread on the road. I promise I will get it washed when I get home. Here in Scottsdale, I went to the WW auction today, and they asked me to shoot some video of a "special" car going across the block. It is a 1939 Mercedes-Benz... and it was Hitler's "parade car." Wow, what a piece of infamous history. Below is a frame capture from the video. It is completely RAW, and it is a video cap, so the quality of this posted image is not great. I had my still camera with me, but I got mobbed by people wanting to take pictures of the car, and they bumped into me, and my tripod, so all my efforts went into trying to get a good video, to the point where I was just trying to hold my f-ing video camera somewhat still. My plan was to lock the video camera down for most of the time, and snap some still shots. That plan got vetoed by the crowd. . CD
Looked at mine. When this started they were calling for ~1". Ended up with 9. By then it was too late to put it in the storage building. Amazing how much snow can fall during a long nap.
My grandfather had a 1936 Mercedes Benz 540K touring car. My dad said it was in the garage on blocks during the war. After the war he sold the Mercedes and got a 1948 Lagonda Rapide.
Over the last 2 days I managed to get my MINI full of salt........ I thought I moved away from the Great North to avoid this crap. Saturday she'll be getting a MUCH needed pass thru a car wash to rinse out her crevices. So much for having a Florida car
It’s going to be above freezing this weekend ( 53 degrees ) so I guess I will get the car out and give it a nice bath.
I'm rescuing my MINI from the airport tonight. A Meguair's tech at the Barrett-Jackson auction showed me a product I can use to dress tires to make them black, but not shiny. I can use it on my tires, and on classic cars I photograph. Classic cars should never have shiny tires. I don't like shiny tires on my own car, either. I've been wanting a product that gives me a rich black, with little to no shine. I was at RM/Sothby's last night. Any Tucker fans here? CD
Yup - we will be a sponsor this year.. I will not be able to get there until Friday... I'll be at a conference until then.
I ordered an Engine Dress up Kit from Zterck toady. My car may not be the fastest, but it will sure be pruddy.
Just changed the oil filter housing gasket. What a pain. Old gasket felt like it turned to plastic instead of rubber feeling. No more leaking though Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
Thats to bad. During the week is much better. The weekend is when it gets crowded and the cops show up.
And that’s why our group shows up on Monday. We have Fontana and the Dragon all to ourselves for a few days before everyone shows up. Also our group has a rule, “We do not drive on Saturday” because of all the people, traffic and accidents.
If you are an early riser there is no problem with bozo's or the constabulary. Just you & the road, lots o fun. There so many great roads in the area, that the dragon doesn't make my top 10 list.
