Yeah, it does feel like automotive homeopathy, but at least it’s cheap. We’ll see after a tank or two of gas if the code decreases its frequency. If not, no harm done.

Though I will say that cleaning the MAF made me feel better. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

With direct injection engines Sea Foam does not do much. If you are using a top tear fuel it has all the cleaners your injectors and fuel system needs. What is the year of your Mini? I cant remember. If its a N14 I would check the intake, it may be time for a blasting.

I'm a believer in Techron added to the fuel tank. It will help keep the injectors & combustion chamber lean. It will not touch the back of the valves where the carbon hides. Also it is made from the best free range humanely sourced snakes. What could go wrong?

For those valves you need to throw walnuts at em.

Yeah, the walnut thing is next, but I’m poor at the moment and pinching pennies.

Things always go wrong when you’re down. Luckily it’s not a major failure.

I have a Volvo with almost 300,00 miles on it, I have always burned detergent gasoline in it. One injector started to fail under load. I decided to try the cheap fix on it before I started throwing money at the problem. I ran a couple of bottles of Techron through it and that solved the problem.

Took the MINI for a quick bath this morning, did my grocery shopping and got it tucked away in the garage before the rain started. Now, if I can just avoid going anywhere before work on Monday, I'll get to have a clean car for the longest stretch in months.

My MINI is hibernating today, just like me. It was a beautiful sunny and 68F yesterday. The high so far today has been 32F.

You know, thinking about it, I haven’t been able to make it over to a Shell as often as I used to (there was one right where I worked, none near my home). It’s been a few months since she’s had anything other than lower grade fuel, and my driving habits have changed as well. I’m doing more short trips than long ones.

    Hmmmmm.....

I did the same thing but did not wash my car. I took it out for a run to Delaware for cheap smokes and came home.

Maybe if I am bored tomorrow I will wash it in the rain and dry it in the garage.

Find a good place to buy 93 octane and pick up a bottle or 4 of Techron add one bottle at every fill up for the next 4 fillups. Also get out on the highway and run it hard and burn some carbon out of your motor. Drive it like you stole it and push that baby to the red line.

Had mine washed and waxed a couple of weeks ago. Wasn't allowed to drive it until today at the soonest. Yep, it's raining, and supposed to rain every day this week except Wednesday. I'm going to try to get down to the Sneed4Speed shop to get my side splitters installed along with some other work. fullsizeoutput_502.jpeg Oh well, since I can drive the Suburban one handed I've been putting a lot of miles on it instead.

The old “Italian Tune-Up” eh? I actually did try that for a bit yesterday. Third gear on the highway makes for some nice high revs. :D

Hey Zapski pull out an old Riverrun route & let your MINI enjoy the back roads all the while making you grin like a kid. :D

Yup, luggung a MINI, using low octane fuel and short trips is the perfect way to fill everything with carbon.

You have to take it out and let it rip to get rid of all that crap.

    Have been experimenting with belt dechroming and tinting windows behind (only back windows allowed in Belgium}

So I need money to do it for real

I like that look, I’ve been contemplating something similar - black out the belt and other bits of chrome, tinting the rear.
