Oh but I do Gave the ol' girl a bath last night. I swear I've never needed bug and tar remover in my life, until I moved to GA. I had a streak of tar all the way up my door from the front tire.
New S4S Billet Shift Knob. Got it on sale for 75% off because the set screw is ~30% off center. I'm not that OCD.
Emptied my catch can yesterday. I had an M7 can on there for a year and all that was in the can after that year was a dirty film inside. A $105 Mishimoto from Amazon- https://www.amazon.com/Mishimoto-MMBCC-MSTWO-BK-Compact-Baffled-2-Port/dp/B00OBEP51K/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1519315027&sr=8-3&keywords=mishimoto+catch+can was MUCH better, as it ACTUALLY WORKS. This is what came out of it, that's 3 months of water and a little oil sludge on top.
I bought an engine dress up kit from Zteck and started installing it yesterday. Even I ran into a couple of minor problems, the company was super helpful in resolving them. It's too cold to finish today, but I will post pictures asa it's done. So far, it looks great. I go to a lot of local cruze-ins and car shows and can't wait to show it off.
This stuff is awesome for bugs and tar. It will not strip wax or coating off the car either. Unlike most tar removers, Q²M Tar does not affect any exterior surfaces and is bodywork safe. It can be used on paint, glass, plastic trim, both painted and unpainted. As it is pH neutral, it can also be used to remove tar spots from bare polished lips. http://www.esotericcarcare.com/gyeon-q2m-tar/
Ordered, Thanks Dave! I was annoyed that I had to re-polish the car after using this tar remover stuff I've had for like 5 years, it left a noticable un-shiny streak where it was sprayed and a greezy shine on the black trim.
Just turned 70k on the Cooper with its remanufactured CVT...10k since the install and it runs like new! On to MOTD.
Last week a small rock decided to take a trip into my windshield and leave a Dime sized pit. After yelling “YES!!” And fist pumping a few times, I called my agent and arranged to have the windshield replaced. The old one was pretty grotty, had a few other pits and small nicks, and otherwise looked like a transparent orange peel from the last 150,000 miles or so and was utterly miserable to look through when driving towards a low hanging sun. I spent the time chatting with the window guy who was pretty nice and now have a new and perfectly clear eye to looked through. Yay Me!
Installed colder plugs and loaded my new ByteTronik tune. The part that took the longest was regressing back to my distant Windows OS past. I've used nothing but Apple since my first PowerBook. With some long distance tutoring everything went relatively smoothly and a lot faster than I was expecting. The car was quick with the JCW tuning kit and NM piggyback, but now it's a whole different critter. I'm happy with the results and curious what the dyno will show. All that's left is the catless DP, and that should be done next month.
Removed the rear wiper today! The old rubber grommet line stayed in the glass, I think it's slightly etched fromt he dirth that was in there. Would a headlight polishing kit work on glass? We'll find out tomorrow
Nope, it will not work so save your time. Glass is much harder and you need a very hard polish and special pad on a machine.
I thought about that CD, but since it's aluminum it won't hold the heat for long. It gets hot and muggy here, but nothing like TX. Right now it's nice and cool to the touch and I think that's pretty much how it'll be with windows down or A/C on. If it was stainless steel I would have passed. Now That would hold some heat for a while.
