It's raining today because I washed my car last night. Had to get all that dirt and sand off my car from last weekend's road trip.
My poor MINI is as dirty as it has ever been. Non-stop rain and a mud/gravel lot are making the inside and outside a muddy mess. The inside smells bad, too. It is parked outside the hotel in the rain right now. I shot that MCS Roadster today. It is part of an estate going to auction in April. No Reserve on this collection, so someone could get a great deal. http://www.worldwide-auctioneers.com CD
Dave, Do you use the 5" pads on your 6" polisher? I just ordered the Griots polisher and am fixin to buy the esoteric pads. Also, which cutting/polishing compound and which for finish? I can still see the Cooper S and JCW badge outlines where I removed them and though I know the paint around them is be faded, I'd like to try and make them disappear as much as possible.
I use 5 inch pads and purchased a separate 5 inch backing plate. Amazon sells them for cheap. Try a Rupes Yellow pad with Sonax Perfect finish for cutting and polishing. Then switch to the softer Rupes White pad to “fine” polish with the same Sonax product. Watch the video below. http://www.esotericcarcare.com/sonax-perfect-finish/
No. Once a car is consigned to an auction, it has to go over the block. One of the better cars in the collection. A Ferrari California. I shot this one today CD
BTW, my poor MINI is filthy, inside and out, and smells like and old pair of gym socks. A full detail is planned for the weekend. CD
Thanks Dave that's a good video. I used to watch the guy that owns Ammo NYC on the youtubes, I've got a full day to watch pointers on this Esoteric channel Got me some 6" and 5" polishing and finishing pads as well as that Sonax Perfect Finish. Got some 6"ers since we've got a 4 door F-150 and I'm sure they'll still be to small for that giant. The MINI is a tad dirty since it's been raining all week. She's feelin great but lately I've been wondering... Since my previous HPFP replacement at about 55-60k I've put nothing but QT 93 which was recommended to me by a BMW master tech/engineer out of BMW of South ATL. That HPFP failed at about 98k. Todd at Bavarian Repair told me his thoughts were that they could be failing due to the ethanol in our gas nowa days, but he's not 100% sure that's why they fail. Does anyone really know why they fail so often? Happy Friday you MINI freaks!
You mean it's time for her spring bath. Mine too...but the weather is still too cold here. Making sure I have a fresh claybar and other detailing supplies ready.
Well, not an annual kind of thing. It has been raining here like I've never seen before. I was doing a week long photoshoot, and my MINI was parked in a mud parking lot, and I was storing all kinds of extra gear in the car, in 100-percent humidity. Every time I got into the car, I was standing in muddy water before I got in, so the floor mats are disgusting. I am home now, and the MINI is in the garage, with the windows and hatch open. I am going to have it thoroughly cleaned tomorrow. CD
