@Dave.0 @MCS0518 Take a look at this tool. It does a lot it will turn on systems for diagnostic, reads BMW/MINI codes. Its the only OBDII tool that turned off my airbag light. I did it by clearing the code then resetting everything. The light has been off for several months. I got it on sale for around $130 I think. So you may want to wait I just noticed the price has gone up so Daves solution may be better. https://www.ecstuning.com/b-schwaben-by-foxwell-parts/professional-bmw-mini-scan-tool/014020sch01a~scf/
That's good to know. I did order a cable for my laptop. And downloaded some diagnostic and program thing from bcable website. Suppose to be dealership level type of thing. Should be able to do it through there? Makes sense, though. Everytime I would clear it with my Torque app, it comes back on. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
I hate those plastic ones. Actually had mine pop off while jacking it up over the weekend. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
These look promising..... https://www.amazon.com/Universal-Adaptor-Slotted-Polyurethane-Protector/dp/B00XK4NZNW/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_263_lp_img_3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=VZRTMJYK6EKMZTV8ATAX https://www.amazon.com/Metal-Mini-Cooper-Floor-Adapter/dp/B007JCSDWO
Those would be a good starting point. I would drill a whole threw them and use a heavy gauge toggle bold to secure them into place on the car.
This may also work because it looks like it is loaded with BMW / MINI software. That option only recently became available. Back when I have my issue it was BavTech or the dealership software only. The main thing is the tool must be PC windows based, able to clear all hard coded errors stored in the ROM, and be able to rest adaptives. The BavTech is the cheapest I have ever found to do all that. On and here a trick, you can use it on as many cars as you want if you do not save the VIN / ECU data. No limit like the description says. Hahahahaha
Take the plastic one and have someone copy it in solid aluminum. Maybe CNC you 4 of them. Then drill a hole in the center and use very strong toggle bolts to mount it where the old one was. That’s all the TSW ones are.
Friend of mine that owns a shop that specializes in Minis, told me something about resetting adaptives too. I forgot about that. I think I will have him do that for me if I run into any hiccups doing it my self. That will be my plan b, if I dont figure it out with my computer. You guys are a big help! I may still clean the injectors. When I get on it, no problem getting to redline. Boost is at 17 psi at redline. Get in the driveway and park, then it starts to sputter and bog down, almost like choking, then smooths out. I dont think it's the pump. Starts fine and all that. Just when it is idling it'll do the sputter and irradic idling. Not seeing any vacuum leaks. Upstream O2 bounces up and down like it should and downstream is smooth. Any ideas? Fuel filter could be really dirty and causing an issue when idle-ing, or the fuel pump may be at the end of its life.
I agree. Hoping fuel filter. Just changed that last month. I'll look at pumps too. Easy fix I hope. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
I picked up and had had my fuel pump replaced a 2 years ago with the one Colin sells. https://www.greeneperformance.com/collections/mini-oem-performance-parts/products/fuel-pump
Today she'll get a water-less bath followed by some new beltline covering. Then starting the polishing process to get her all purdy for the Dragon which is just a month away!!!!
I want to know what demon from hell thought it would be a good idea to put the expansion tank where you can’t get to the oil filter on Gen2 cars!
Nice list.. which knob did you go with? Also you are seeing 270HP at the wheels.. what were you seeing prior to this list of changes? Curious on the gains.
Took off the rear wing so I can have the clear coat fixed on it.. will post more about that over in my garage in a bit. Looks a little necked without the wing.. but in some ways I also like it without the wing... hmm..
Replaced OEM Sport Suspension + NM springs with BC Racing coil overs. Replaced stock down pipe with the Cat-Less version from Milltek. Installed new lower engine mount with the yellow Powerflex version with black inserts. Reconnected my blue tooth control for the exhaust because it's just too loud to run all the time with catless DP and straight pipe. Installed a Cravenspeed E-Brake handle to match my S4S shift knob. It was a long day, even though my Son in Law and an old USAF buddy did 99.9% of the labor.
Looking great - In the last picture what is the nm part? Is that an upper strut mount that goes through essentially the firewall?
