Just throwing this out there: Would a bigger intercooler affect my longterm fuel trim?? When I had put it on it was at around 12-14% fuel trim. Put the stock one back on and it is at around 3-5.4%. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
Which intercooler was it? I'm not well versed on fuel trim, does that mean about 10-ish% more air/fuel was getting to the TB vs the old intercooler?
For a first gen R53 the best I/C is the the OEM and the GP I/C period. All the rest are good for a Hail Mary pull or two on a dyno and may flow better but heats soak and take forever to recover. This fact has been proven several times over the last 10 years. The biggest problem is Boost leaks from bad connection like ALTA silicone boot connectors that don’t seal well at all.
Makes sense Dave O. I will stick to the stock one. It was the Long Term Fuel Trim. Was positive 10 - 14% fuel that was being added for it being too lean. Wasn't a GP intercooler either. Some cheap one I was experimenting with. I really appreciate the info! Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
The F series cars have the best seats. Even the regular S seats are super nice compared to the previous Gens.
That is exactly why I replaced my OEM MINI beach chair seats with Recaros from a Mitsubishi IX years ago. MINI has finally caught up.
The seats are the only thing I like about the new cars The stereo (HK) and interior accent lighting is better too but not good enough for me to take the leap.
The stereo is ok until you hear a upgraded custom system. I guess it’s ok for a stock system. Going out to pick up 5 gallons of VP M-1 Meth today for the Dragon. Yippie
Well in my late teen and early 20's I was VERY into upgrading any stereo I could get my hands on and though I've had much better, the HK system in my car is good enough for me to leave it alone and the new HK systems are even better. For a stock system it's very decent.
Tomorrow [Thursday], I'm getting a brake fluid flush for my wife's MCSa and the snow tires switched out for her all seasons [praying that springtime FINALLY arrives]. Yesterday [Tuesday] I got new tires for MY S [BF Goodrich g-Force Super Sports]. Damned sidewalls are like carbon steel...not sure if I like the ride, so far. Next week I'm getting a brake fluid flush for the R50, so we can negotiate the Dragon safely.
The family back in Sconsin is hoping for the snow to stop too. I didn't know BFG made a G-Force Super Sport. I heard of All Seasons and Comp 2's, is the super sport just released?
It's an all season that is said [by Tire Rack] to run like a summer tire [really grippy]. BFG even gave a 35k warranty for this tire. I bought a set of 205-50-15s, and, so far, the sidewalls are VERY stiff, so later today I'll do some driving to break them in a bit or at least see if I'm going to like them. Can't wait for warmer days, though!
Last night I got the Helmet out and took my wife to dinner. She wanted to take the Helmet, even though the Runt was nice and clean. She said it was because of the BIG spider that walked across the windshield the other day when I was driving the Runt. It crawled out of the headliner right in front of me and then into the side airbag on the drivers side. Its still loose in there. Yes it really is bug. Well thats her excuse, I think she just digs the Helmet.
Finally put on Summer tires last weekend and took a long drive to Maryland to visit with my father. Replaced rear wiper blade which was splitting at both ends (first ordered one on Amazon citing the correct part number, but it was the wrong one - 1 inch shorter, then got the correct one from ECS tuning). Repaired one of my keys. Both have not been working with the unlock button for a while. Took one apart and found the microswitch floating around. Re-soldered it to the board and now it's working fine again. Hope the solder joints hold up. The other one had the rubber unlock switch cover piece fall apart, but I could reach in with my fingernail and still do it. Later the unlock microswitch inside fell apart. Ordered a shell/microswitch kit from ebay (from Slovenia) so I can try to fix that key later.
Picked up the MINI from my shop after having brakes and coolant flushed, finally got my DT bypass valve installed (NO MORE YOYO!), new timing chain tensioner, new metal thermostat housing and thermostat, and replaced my axels with the RMW ones. Good times ahead!
