I used to have a IASCA sound competition car back in the day loaded with MB Quarts, 2 JL Audio 12’s in a bandpass (4) HiPhonics Amps and 4 way electronic cross overs and a 32 band EQ both by HiPhonics, I had a Richard Clark audio noise gate and two 1 Farad caps with an Eclipse Heat unit and lots of Dynamat all came to 490 watts at 4 Ohms. We were all rated at 4 ohm ratings and I was in the 250-500 watt class but had a total of 1,050 watts and 2 and 1 ohms. This allowed me to win lots of 1st place trophies and I came in 3rd at Nationals.

Nowadays I still like my music but on a less grander scale. I installed an Alpine Headunit that has no CD player but is a media unit and has a very high output voltage for low signal to noise ratio. I have a nice iPod Classic 160 in the glovebox hard wired to the HU. I have 3 pair of audio quest rca cables running to the underside of my rear seat delete to 1 Alpine digital 900W by 5 amp. One output feeds 500 watts to a JL 10-W3. The other 4 outputs feed 100w to the other locations. The rears are just 2 Infinity Kappa 2 way 6x9s in the factory location. For the fronts I went back to high end speakers and got a set of Focal ES 165KX2 separates with passive crossovers. I hand applied Dynamat to my Mini covering the entire floor, inner and outer doors and rear quarters. When the music off In my car, it is as quite inside as my wife’s Lexus.

I like my music crisp, clear with the full spectrum on sound which does include bass. BUT I don’t like big Boom & Tisk sound systems where you only her cymbals and big bass drums from 4 blocks away.

I actually thought about buying it... for a couple grand. 26K? Not a chance. Weird stuff happens at auctions.

So today I finally had the guts to push the "Execute Job" button in NCS Expert to code out the LED flicker in various light positions on my Electric Blue R53.

I changed various bulb monitoring settings to not active. Up next is a quick LED high beam install (using my son's $$$ bulbs he hasn't installed yet), so I can determine if I want to buy some myself. I can tell from the front parking light position where I have LEDs that the coding change does work, plus the LED in my rear boot area also hasn't flicked on ignition-on, so that one won't bug me ever again.

Will report in my Daily Driver build thread how the LED testing goes from here.

I washed it yesterday and it is covered with pollen today:mad:. As I drove it to town, a big green cloud of pollen blew off of it.

Gave her a wash Saturday and waxed the roof. Once the rain stops I'll get a nice coat of Butter Wet wax on her this week. Starting to get things together for the Dragon.

I coded out the bulb check in my R56 with the Carly for BMW app, but can't shut off the check for brake or front running lights. The tail lights and running lights up front flash after start up. Will try to redo the coding one of these days.

those checks are another check box in NCS Expert. I didn't touch the brake light setting because I see no reason to put LEDs in there at this point and I guess it's a good thing to be informed when the OEM bulbs fail. I don't even know what the car will do when that should happen, but I would hope it isn't limp mode :)

Just got home and popped my hood to let it open a bit to let her cool down (my normal gettin home routine) and noticed a little hiss noise. My damn coolant expansion tank has a crack in it... I thought they fixed that after the first gen. F'n BM'r plastic. The leak is at that middle vertical seam towards the bottom with the trail of dry coolant just below it flowing down the seam. Picking up a new one from Wayland tomorrow and swapping them out after work. IMG_1307.JPG

Sorry haven't been on much of late. Been out motoring. Especially to Costco or across the border to the US for gas. In the Vancouver BC area, gas is approaching $1.60 CDN a liter. That's about $4.50 a gallon USD.

On another note, the other day, car got washed, and dried and covered in pollen. Brushed off pollen, waxed and buffed and it got covered in pollen again.

This is the original and it made it over 100k so I'm just replacing it with an OE part. That said, I've never had to replace one of these on any car I've ever had or worked on..... I did consider the metal one too but don't think it's AS necessary on the R56. Caught a pic of it bubbling out, It's not all that bad but has got to be fixed before it gets worse. This should be a simple repair, no bleeding or anything necessary I don't think, gotta check the Bentley manual when I get home.

none of mine are leaking. I pre-emptively replaced one with another plastic tank (RockAuto, 30 bucks or so) because it was full makeover time for he car. but my 100k 13 year-old tank in the dark silver car is still fine.

I just don't like the pricey aftermarket aluminum tanks, although on AliExpress $60 buys you one that looks the same as the high priced locally sourced stuff, black or shiny, whatever rocks your boat. In my book, there's nothing wrong with a plastic tank that fails after 15 years of service at 200 degrees F under pressure. Cost of doing business. Just put a new one in and move on.

Have you ever bought from AliExpress? I've wanted to before a while back but had to order like 200 of something to place an order.

You may be confusing that one with Alibaba. Alibaba is business to business sales, while AliExpress is for individual item purchases. I bought some cycling clothing through them and sensors for my Garmin bicycle computer. All good, except for clothing sizing. If you wear an L in the US, you usually need to buy an XXL. Should not be an issue for parts like a fluid tank. Shipping can be a few weeks on bigger items unless you have an option to pay for expedited shipping. Most items ship free.

Not a lot of stuff for the R53 there, unless you like silly sunroof stickers or badges on your grill, but I bookmarked a few items that are interesting, like this one
