I use mine like that for a P/S reservoir. Regardless, I hope that pic is a drag car... Otherwise they are just cooking whatever fluid is in there, being right next to the exhaust housing.
I don't think it's a coolant reservoir, there's another identical tank on the opposite side. I was just picking at Dave since he had an issue that involved his expansion tank at MOTD this year. The car is set up for the track, it's a Nissan chassis that they've crammed an LS1 into with some turbo's. I like to watch builds on YouTube whilst at work.
I like them! How much did they cut off your lap times? I'm thinking a good five seconds. I replaced my puddle lights today with some LED projection lights from OutMotoring, with a MINI wing logo. I reckon that is good for at least seven horsepower. CD
Steam cleaned part of the red Mini's interior. Plugged electric blue into trickle charger and drove about 20 miles on the dark silver car. Solved my clunking sound on load change issue: loose LED driver inside of driver side headlight.
Nothing today, yesterday I washed and cleaned my car and put it in the garage since it is going to rain all week.
Lots of little things for my "new" 2009 JCW R55. Transferred the Raceseng shift knob and compact spare from my totalled car, compact spare foam tool tray to replace the mobility tray, new antenna, wiper blades, new retaining clip for the cig lighter socket, tweaking alignment front and back, got but haven't put in spark plugs, filters, mag oil pan bolt, assorted tools, etc., summer wheels and tires on order (Enkei PF01 17x7 + Michelin PS S4 215/45/17), sunshade and sunroof shades, glove box organizer (fits pretty loosely, could have been designed better), and more. Will update my avatar and garage when I catch my breath.
Spent Saturday replacing the passenger side cv, pretty strait forward although I did have one bolt that kicked my butt. I had intended on washing it Sunday but spent a good portion of the day burning brush, ash and wet cars do not mix,.
Started clear bra removal from bumper of the dark silver car. If you have that stuff on the car, don't wait 13 years to replace it like I did.
Yesterday after the In-Law's left, I gave her a bath and stuck the roof rack back on since I'll be hauling some sort of mystery back to GA from my Dad's house in Wisconsin next month.
Yeah they should be replaced every 5-6 years, even the expensive ones. People think they last forever which is not the case at all. A heat gun will be your best friends over the next few days. Slow and steady is the trick.
I started re-doing my gauge mountings. The gauges never stayed in the pods after a little driving, so I am changing things up a little. Then on to tackle the emergency brake handle. At least it will keep me off the streets.
@cristo congrats in the new JCW, pictures please! Yesterday I drove the R53 about an hour down into Mississippi. Lots of the bridges were being worked in, I think they were trying to rip my suspension off my car. By the time I got there the right rear molding was coming off. I took it off and through it in the boot. The car has a very bad hesitation and it just got worse on the drive. Finally I got a check engine light. It is running too lean. I need to change the fuel filter, I hope that fixes it. I also have to fix the oil leak. The AC compressor is very loud so I am sure it’s about to go. And it needs new tires. I have to get over worrying about driving the Helmet I just don’t want it baking in the hot summer sun. So it may be time to part with mr R53. But it’s an R53 and I really love that car
