Summertime and Wintertime... batteries near the end of life do not like temperatures on either end. Not to mention my own conspiracy theory. Battery companies engineer their products to die as soon as the warranty runs out. A 48-month battery will die at 48 months, plus five days. I can't prove it, but I'm sure many of you have experienced it. CD
You are correct CD. Not long ago I had the battery go bad in my Miata. I thought I'd have to buy another. Looked at the receipt & believe it or not I had 5 days left on the prorated warranty. Figured they'd give me $5 off a new one. Get to the store & the guy hands me a new battery. I ask how much & he says "no charge, we don't do that prorated stuff anymore." A rare victory for this old guy.
I finally received my new RMW coil overs yesterday. And today I had more surgery on my left hand. This means that it’s gonna be at least three weeks before I can get them installed. Until then here are some pictures. This is Jan’s first set of F56 coil overs.
Took delivery of the 2018 Countryman last night. I was surprised to find the headlights light up the side of the car that I am turning into. A left turn lights up the left side of the car. I now have a garage full of MINIs. R53, R56 and F60. One of each generation. Going to have to get a classic Mini to complete the collection
Pulled the headliner yesterday so I can drop it off this week. I thought about replacing it myself but after reading a few posts here I thought I would go with the majority's advice and leave it to the pros.
When I did my liner I had a mobile guy come by and do it. He got there a little after I pulled the liner it took him about 10 minutes to put the new on and I reinstalled it.
Replaced the exhaust manifold, because of broken flex pipe and gaskets. Long term fuel trim back to normal and P 2096 went away after several miles. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
I was hoping to find a mobile guy, no such luck. If I had wanted him to do all the work he wasn't going to get to me until October. Pulling it myself gets me in this week and saves me over $100, win - win
I pulled my car out of the garage Saturday for the first time in a month and washed it. The AC Compressor seized and broke the belt close to home so I drove it home and parked it for a while and went on vacation. FYI the tensioner expanded all the way and nothing happed to my car. See you don’t need a tensioner stop, they are all pointless. Made appt today to have my car flatbedded to Helix tomorrow. I am finally having my AC compressor replaced and since it’s in the shop they are going to install my new Brembo’s and replace my rear anti-sway bar bushings. I can put a new belt on and drive it to the shop since the AC pulley is locked up. Should be able to pick it up Friday.
Replaced some bulbs today: 3497 (Stanley version from Honda, not the cheapo Taiwan or China ones) - 45 candlepower, 27 W as opposed to 32 cp, 21 W for standard 1156/7506/P21W for the top brake/parking lights in the back. They measure about a half to 2/3 stop brighter than stock. Solaris (from Bimmian.com) 7507 (PY21W) lightly silvered amber bulbs for front and rear indicators. They test equal in brightness to the stock yellow bulbs. Solaris (from Bimmian.com) 194 lightly silvered amber bulbs for front side indicators. They also test equal in brightness to the stock yellow bulbs. 796 Halogen 35W bulb for the rear (lower right) backup bulb. 2 stops brighter than stock 1156/etc. I didn't upgrade the rear (lower left) fog bulb since I practically never use it. Have not been impressed with most LED lights, which is why I stayed with incandescent bulbs, plus you don't get bulb out lights on the dash or have to add parallel resistors or bulbs with built in resistors to fool the CanBus that all the right lights are there and working.
I got pulled over in the Helmet yesterday. It was a catch and release. Nice Cop just gave me a warning. Thats what happens when your too lazy to take your V1 out for a short drive.
it is but on these 90+ days I take it down because it gets so hot. That may not hurt it but man it gets hot
