I got my clips in from eMINI last night so I can put the rear interior panels back in. Its gonna have to wait until after Florence does her thing, need to button up a few more things before her arrival.
Went down to the shop today and installed Red Stuff front brake pads... This message approved by David.0
Dave I think maybe your issues were out of the normal range of wear & tear for EBC pads. I've had them on my Meotter for 5 years or so with no issues. Pretty good brakes IMO. Liked them so much I added Red Stuff pads to my wife's justa clubster. I'm thinking maybe EBC has changed things up since your experience??
Maybe, but I had 3 failures with 3 differnt sets. Many other people have reported the same. They may have fixed the issue by now but I have moved on to better brakes and pads.
Took my wife to the DMV to get her motorcycle license! She went through a safety course this weekend. We took the Helmet on the way, there was a lot of construction. Going home I went a different way to avoid the construction. It was even worse that way. I had to go through dirt 3 times. I could hear the front splitter smoothing out the high spots!
Hate it when that happens. My Mini has been sitting in the driveway for the last few days because I was afraid of hitting a few inches of water in the low lying areas around home. Bad time for my Suburban to be down for maintenance.
Thanks for the reminder. My wife and I took a trip to visit her family in West Virginia a few weeks back (in my wife's Audi A6). The low tire warning went off and when I went to check, I found a screw sticking out of the center of the tread. I pulled the emergency bag from the trunk and found some pliers. Screw came out... pfffffssssssst... along with the air! I grabbed the Dynaplug and shoved in a plug. Air leak stopped! The screw was rather large at one end, so I pushed a second plug in. I popped the compressor on for 5 minutes and poof... potential loss of my vacation time dodged! I need to get over to Amazon and order a refill, plus a kit for my other 2 cars.
Dynaplugs (or more basic diy plugs in the past) have saved my ass (as well as wife’s and neighbors’) many many times over the past few decades. Only once out of dozens of plugs did I have problems with durability of a plug.
New floor mats for the classic....I found them at Huddersfeild in England, the mats were only £12.50 but they wanted £50 to ship them! I sent a message to my brother in England and he sent them to me. I sent him some special bolts he couldn't find over there so it was a good trade.
Checked the air in Skooby's tires. We are soon to be entering the TPMS light season. I wanted to get a head start. Drove the GTI over to Discount tire for a tire balance & rotation.
Swapped the Koni FSD shocks for Koni Yellows. The lowering springs were indeed not good for them. After two and a half years, the fronts were still OK, but the rears were shot. Still the Yellows are going to be a better fit in any event. Sadly, there’s a clunk somewhere now that I have to chase down. I suspect I need to check the torque on one particular bolt. It was giving me a bit of trouble and I’m thinking replacing it will clear things up. Sadly I do not have the energy today to chase it down, so it’s going to sit over the weekend and I’ll deal with it Sunday or Monday.
I haven't done anything with the mini's, to much work. I drove the helmet to work all week. It is covered with sap from one of the trees. I was going to wash it off a day ago but now its raining. I guess I don't need to wash it now. The R53 is sitting in the garage waiting for me to get new tires.
Took my MINI out today to run a few errands and she is running great. I thought I heard a slight exhaust leak so when I got home and the car cooled off I replaced the front exhaust gasket. All sounds good now.
This week I had breakfast at the MINI dealership all week. They have great donuts and coffee. I went there first because one of my license plate lenses had cracked and was hanging down. They had to special order the lenses (I replaced both) so I was there for donuts on Tuesday. Went home and tried for 2 hours to get them to snap it. The wouldn't. Went back on Wed. because the new parts weren't the same as the old part. More donuts. The parts guy spent some time and found out that the part number was incorrect in the system...so I had to special order 2 different lenses. Went back on Thurs...and more donuts. Got the new lenses, got home and ended up having to take the license plate assembly of... screwing up the license plate bracket. Went back and got a new bracket. This morning I went back...yes, more donuts, and got the replacement lenses. Got home and installed them and all is good...except I gained a ton of weight...
I drove it on dry streets for the first time since about last Wednesday. Thursday, our local municipal water reservoir was at 80-percent. Today it is over 100-percent. We averaged 11-inches of rain over the last five days. And... loving it. (Maxwell Smart mod) No better way to end a drought than with a flood. CD
I started doing research into whether 380 injectors will be of any benefit to me at this point. Probably not. But, it kept me off the streets...
