I completed the Aston Sunday and got my MINI back in the garage. I still have to align my new bi-xenon HiD lights. I did sell and ship my old OEM set today.
My poor MINI is at the airport, very dirty and with a bent exhaust from last week (still not sure how to pad my invoice for that, but I'll get er' done). I did shoot something kind of sexy today, a 1925 Bugatti Type 35A. Very garage worthy, Dave. Yes, it is very real. CD
It is a very sharp looking car and I’m with vetsvette on the hand crank. Not being real knowledgeable on old race cars of that era I was intrigued by the wheels not being wire spoked.
I don't believe any standard bulb can be considered bright compared to LED or Xenon, but I'm sure they're better than the standard incandescent.
Yes, better than standard halogens. No need for CANbus cancellers that some cars need when you switch LED. The cutoff w/ LEDs may differ, too. Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
The Osram 65W Rallye H7 bulbs were pretty darned good (2100 lumens instead of 1600, H9 burner on H7 base, pretty good lifespan, normal [not blue] color) but Osram stopped producing them a couple years ago. There may be an equivalent replacement coming onto the market from Germany early next year, but it's been delayed several times so far and might never materialize.
The hand crank is likely just for looks, now. This car still does vintage racing, and I am sure they use a machine to start it. The wheels are classic, original Bugatti. A variety of wheels were used by different builders back in that day. CD
Another mileage milestone crossed. I should probably cross the 260000 mark by the end of the month. Definitely before Christmas.
I'm not sure 65W bulbs are legal for street use here. But I have heard good things about Osram bulbs. If I only knew where I could get them locally.
Technically, they weren’t, although they aren’t any brighter than legal oem xenons. The Osram 65w bulbs have not been available anywhere for a couple years now.
With all the people with lifted trucks & ricer cars running illegal HID & LED conversions no one is going to notice the difference from a 65W bulb.
Changed my oil last night and discovered she's finally due for some gasket and or feed/return line action-
My poor MINI is still filthy, and in desperate need of attention. But, I got home from Houston yesterday, and found my house full of f-ing bees. Honey bees. The kind of bees exterminators want nothing to do with. I had to pay a beekeeper a lot of money to kill the little f--kers. So, instead of cleaning my MINI, I spent the day vacuuming up hundreds of dead bees. I tossed a couple of bug bombs into my attic like hand grenades to kill the hundreds of f-ing bees that were still buzzing around up there. They would have died in the next day or two on their own, but I was pissed off, and wanted to kill them. Pardon my pseudo f-bombs, but the last 24 hours has been like a bad Stephen King novel. Tomorrow, I get the MINI washed. CD
OK, I was going to just click "like" on this posting, but I do find it funny. Sad, but funny. I hope you get some quality cleaning time on the MINI, soon! Why do bthe bee folks not deal with Honey Bees, I thought the bee keeper folks trapped the bees for their hives or was this a swarm without a queen? Appreciate the great car pictures you post too. Don
Tonight I finally adjusted my new Bi-Xenon HIDs. Yeah they are bright. The last picture is the high beams on! P.s. yes, I did spot a few deer.
Just curious. A lot of talk about headlights here lately. My R56 MCS came from the factory with Bi-Xenons. Is that not common? Was it not available on R53 models? Every car I have owned for the last 20 years has had Xenon headlights, but my current MINI is the first one to have Bi-Xenon headlights. I rarely use my high beams, but do like Xenon headlights. CD
