I hate when our cars get hit or damaged by other idiot drivers. UGH! I thought you had an R56 not a Clubman? One thing to check before you install your replacement door is the wiring plugs. Make sure every color on every pin match correctly or you will have issues. I have seen this many times with bodyshops getting “used” doors for collision repairs because insurance company’s do not want to pay for new OEM parts and labor. The door wiring does not always match up from year to year or even month to month depending on the cars option list.
If you only had a large mass of water to the west of you that you could use to put the fires out..... Oh that’s right Kalifornia stupid politics.
Today I took my car out for its last rin on Summer tires. When I got home I switched them out for my beater OEM S-lots with winter tires. Only 5 months until the Dragon.
Today I washed both the wife’s Lexus RX350 and my MINI since we were out driving in the rain, leaves and snow this past week. The MINI is back on the garage resting all nice and clean again.
He sure did. His truck didn't hit me, I hit the barrier avoiding his trailer tires. I was not happy attall, BUT coulda been worse. Way worse.
Today I did something that may be very stupid. I entered my car in the 'Cavalcade of Customs' car show. This is part of the Autorama car show circuit with shows in various US cities. 500 cars supposed to be there. I'm old and old school. I grew up on drive-ins, sock hops, and custom cars and hot rods. It will mean a LOT of work in getting Peppurr clean (thanks Dave O.) and show ready. It's so much fun to be an old fart...
GASP!!!! You DRIVE your MINI at all in the Winter? WHY would you put winter tires on your MINI if you don't drive it outside in the Winter? Or, maybe you keep it in the garage and the snow/slush melting off your wife's Lexus causes you to move the MINI and drive it thru the slushy snow on the garage floor to a safer place?
I kinda failed with my repair. I changed the oil filter housing gaskets, oil cooler gaskets, and turbo oil lines. First start up after the repair no CEL's, car idled fine and drank coolant as expected. Let her drink for a little bit then shut it down to cool before buttoning up the heat top heat shield. Did all that, start it up to add more coolant and go for a test run and bam, CEL. Ran the codes, re-checked my work and found a connection under the turbo not fully seated. Pressed it in, started up and cleared the codes, got new codes that persisted. Towed her up to the shop yesterday and they just called. Some oil pressure harness and sensor need to be replaced as well as some harness from inside the oil pan that N18's are known for. Not really sure how I jacked up all this oil pressure stuff but I did. If I were to do the job again I'd completely remove the front end of the car. It'd be worth it. My knuckles haven't been this gouged up since I worked on my 91 Honda.
I drive my car in the winter and in the snow. I love passing SUV’s and Minivans stuck on hills in the snow. A MINI is like a heated snowmobile with a nice stereo that just goes and goes like the energizer bunny.
Sunday afternoon I got pulled over the cop said my tag was 2 months out of date on the Helmet! What! My wife the book keeper was with me and she felt bad that it slipped through, not her fault we didn’t get the renewal. Nice Cop he let me go, no ticket. It was late afternoon and I needed to go to work at midnight. I quickly put the new koni on the R53 and got it off the jack stands. Went for a test drive only to find the left strut was making a lot of noise when I turned the wheels. Great why a didn't I just get a pair to start with! So the Helmet is put up in the garage filthy, the R53 is sitting in the drive way waiting a new strut and I had to drive the sequoia.
I drive 2 of our 3 MINIs year around, inclement weather or not. The R50 is a mostly 3-season car as it doesn't have snows, but it still is driven in Winter when the roads are okay, as in not icy or clogged with snow. Cold weather doesn't bother it at all
Snow tires are the cats meow I used to love passing by big 4x4's with knobby A/S's on snow covered highways.

Replaced the melted driver side rear side marker light. Seems the bulbs don't actually burn out until after the socket melts so MINI doesn't bother selling you just the bulb. They sell you the entire side marker.
