All the OEM motor mounts are garbage. This is the one you need or an -5-06 MINI. They also make one for the early first gens. https://www.greeneperformance.com/collections/mini-oem-performance-parts/products/vibra-technics-mini-cooper-s-r53-07-04-07-08-min906m-right-hand-engine-mount
Teddy, I have a set of aluminum diamond floor plates that I don'f use anymore. They are yours if you don't already have some.
So after over a month in the rain and sunshine the Helmet got a bath. It was very dirty. Who know there was a shiney black Mini under all that dirt. Then I put the other new Koni on the R53 (Thanks Aaron at Outmotoring.com) Got it out of the garage, put the Helmet in the garage where it will stay till spring under its car cover. I will wate till spring to sale the R53. (Well that’s what I say now, guess I should have bought that wing after all) The bad news is it is still making a noise when you turn the wheel. Sounds like rubber. 169k and I have never changed the ball joints, may be time.
Emptied the oil catch can on my lunch hour - hardly catches anything in the summer, but now full of a little oil and a lot of water after the weather turned colder. I was surprised by the outflow enough to drop the drain plug and it fell down into the land of never to be found (and I'm pretty good at finding things). So I walked two blocks to the ACE Hardware store near my work and got a 2.5 inch 14mm x 1.5 bolt to plug it, then got a oil pain plug with a rubber gasket at Autozone on the way home, which looks and functions a lot better. Tried to call BSH but they don't list a phone number, emailed them, but no answer so far, and Outmotoring (where I bought the BSH OCC) said they don't carry the individual parts, and to just wait on BSH by email. ... So I decided to order a Fumoto F106SX valve. I haven't put them on my oil pans, but the catch can looks like a good application for one.
Today we had a 1/2 day so we could get together with co-workers for a holiday luncheon. Our little group picked an old English pub in Philly. I drove my car to the near by train station and took the train to the city. No I do not take my car into the dump that is Philadelphia. Had a nice burger and chips (fries) and a few nice free Guinness drafts. A good time was had by all.
Thoese are tourist cheesestakes that are covered with Cheese wiz and meat is like dog food.Yuk. Real cheesesteaks are made a Tony Luke’s, Jim’s and other much better places.
What they're telling me is that they put a scope in there and the #3 cylinder is filled with oil. They suggest probably broken rings and/or damaged cylinder wall. No sign of valve problems, although impossible to 100% confirm any of this without pulling the head I suppose.
I might be done with this thing, it's taken all my money already including some I don't have. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
I can't blame you but you may be in so deep you might as well keep it. I just wonder why they didn't catch this when they had the head off. It sounds like they are trying to do the bare minimum. Thats not a good thing when it comes to engine work. How long did it run well after they redid the head? Please tell me they rebuilt the head not put just one valve in.
That's a bummer... If you do decide to fix it...look for someone else to do the work. I would not trust these guys based on their past performance. After installing the valves they should have done a compression test to make sure everything was up to snuff, and then a leak down test if they found any problems. Let us know the outcome. I wish you the best...
Went to the QCC (Queen City Coopers) Christmas party. A Blast. I got a Harbor Freight socket set...which I am re-gifting at the British Car club Christmas party tonight. Drove my MINI and it runs SOOOO much better in the cold weather I am thinking about getting a Meth kit for the cooling the rest of the year.
Yeah, you guys are getting a butt-kicking. It just missed us -- just cold and rainy in Dallas. I'm on my way to California right now (in-flight wifi). I'll think about you in my short sleeves. CD
My MINI is at DFW airport right now, where it has been for most of December. It will need a spa treatment when I get home -- whenever that is. CD
