Won't meth make the grill rot out? Having owned several intercooled-turbocharged cars, I just look at the extra power as a reason not to hate cold weather as much. CD
I replaced the stock hologen high beams with H7 LED’s. Yes everything fits in the housing easy and it still seals without any issues . https://gtrlighting.com/gtr-lighting-ultra-series-led-headlight-bulbs-h7-3rd-generation/
I took my car to the dealer today. Thanks to sitting in a garage in Key Largo, I need a valve cover gasket, a thermostat, and a power steering hose. That's what happens to rubber products sitting in heat and humidity. If it's made out of plastic or rubber, I will probably have to replace it. At least I get a discount at the dealer and they are installing my red upper radiator hoses also.
From an LED? They are high beams and they are not on that long. Also I have had 55 watt HID’s in my OEM fog lights for 8-10 years and have not had any issues. Those are on every time I turn on my headlights. The LEDs have a micro fan and big fins to dissipate heat from the bulb when lit. They run very cool and that is what you pay for when you get $200 LEDs with a lifetime warranty and not eBay $50 specials. The HID bulbs I have in my custom retro fit head lights that are Bi-Xenons. This meaning I now have 4 high beams. The low beam HID runs at 35 watts which a cut off shield down. When I flip to high beams they get 55 watts of power and the bi-Xenon shield goes up makeing the low beam a high beam. While this happens my regular high beams with the LEDs also come on making it daylight in front of me on the road for a long distance. Oh and the OEM fogs with 55 watt HIDs turn off with the high beams going on.
My poor MINI is still at DFW airport. I hope it doesn't find out I've been cheating on it with a 1970 Ghibli, and an Austin Healy, and a 1910 Cadillac. All nice cars, BTW, but the caddy was stunning! 108 years old.
I am going to pick up my car from the dealer and return the loaner. The loaner is a 2018 Countryman. It is a huge, lumbering whale. It's like driving a living room. But, I can understand why people like it. They have never driven an R52/53 S. OK, I guess I'm officially a snob
Just reading the spec's on the leds you linked to they state temps up to 200......thought that was awfully high.
These run cool and the faster you go the cooler they are AND they are COOL! https://www.outmotoring.com/mini-cooper/mini_cooper_hella_500_005750991_black_magic_driving_lights-finest-driving-lights-gen1-gen2-gen3-hatchback-convertible-clubman-coupe-four-door-paceman-countryman.html
Yeah but they are Hella huge and look like Mickey Mouse ears on your bumper. Mine are stealth and you have no idea how bright they are until I turn all (4) high beams on.
True. It makes me think, I am sick of jerks in trucks that have to run all their lights on. I have thought of getting a very bright spot light to shine back at then.
A long time ago, back in High School when I deliver pizza for Dominos I had one of these in my car for seeing house numbers at night. https://www.amazon.com/GOODSMANN-Tacticpro-Automotive-Patrolling-9924-0011-15/dp/B077F5429N/ref=sr_1_12_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1544664373&sr=8-12-spons&keywords=car+spotlight&psc=1
