I am not in the shitty city of Philth-a-delphia. I am in the burbs. Philly still has some cobble stone streets in the Old City sections. 4x4 trucks even drive slow on them.
I tried this and it seemed to work fine. http://cincinnatirefined.com/lifestyle/cavalcade-of-customs-01-13-2019#photo-1
That one opened for me too. Congrats Teddy! Your MINI has been modified that it looks like a sweet 55 Cheby.
You guys do know those are cars at the show and not Teddy’s car. Teddy owns a MINI R52 and his car is not in the pictures.
I picked up my car at MINI RIchmond today. Got a new alternator, belt tensioner, JCW belt, top right side engine mount all installed. The initial quote when I had my car towed there was it was going to come in around $2000 CDN. In the end, they charged me $1700 CDN taxes included. That's about $1100 USD. So I think that was fair. They didn't recommend a whole bunch of stuff my car didn't need, but they did mention that the car is old and I should consider front suspension bushings in the future. They also have a special deal for oil changes for older MINIs so I might take them up on it. I'm just feeling kind of old and tired and don't want to spend much of my own time to get dirty and wrench my own car anymore. I'll still do some of my own things that are fairly simple, such as replacing ignition coils and light bulbs and washing/detailing my cars. But that's probably about it. I just want to drive em.
I finally got my camera back after forgetting it at the Cavalcade . Here' my car as set up at the show
Hot damn ! Look at that paint popping still. Looks great Teddy. I detailed and ceramic coated that car with Gyeon maybe a year ago.
Today I took my MINI off the battery tender and warmed it up for 20 minutes. After she was up to temp I took a nice run to drop off some stuff and good high speed blast down a straight road with the Meth on to clean everything out and stretch her legs. All is good except snow tires have horrible traction when the roads are dry. I took her back and put her in the garage for a very cold weekend with snow and -20 wind chill.
I am really glad to helped me out on this. It is SOOO easy to maintain. Ceramic coating is the way to go...when it is applied properly.
Bad things keep happening to my poor S. Now, the rear struts are going and the right front is bent. i guess all those track days and the Dragon have taken their toll...bummer.
When I took the S to MOTD a few years ago, we were coming thru the Nantalla River Gorge and were run off the road by some AH in a logging truck. I tried to find a driveway apron to turn off before he hit me and one looked ok., so I took it as he roared on by. BAD choice. While it looked okay, i never noticed the 12 inch drop off until...BAM! We slowly drove back to Fontana and Eric [of Helix] looked at it and thought it was ok, but, I guess it really wasn't. The S has not been back to MOTD since, and I was hoping to bring it down this Spring, but that's up in the air for now. Fortunately, i still have the Cooper. When the dealer aligned the whole car is when they noticed the right front strut is bent. I honestly never felt the front pulling to any side, so, I'll have a local mechanic check out their findings. He is familiar with my S and has aligned it before, when I was still doing track days.
A minor deformation like that can cause a significant difference in camber. Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
Time for new struts front & rear. I'd sure want to make sure that is well & truly bent. How is the tire wear on that corner of the car?
Can't tell, as the tires are the Blizzaks and the S has not been driven a lot since I was at MAG. I figure it's about time for the rears, since at one time they were yours!
