If I did, it probably would have a boot full of stolen LXM badges and scraped off vinyl stickers from all across the continent. But I didn't see where the badge went missing. I just noticed it gone. Since my MINI Insomniac badge is still on, I can only presume it fell off. Honestly, except for a few diehard MINI enthusiasts, I don't think anybody really knows what LXM means anyways. In any case, getting out the word on Motoring Alliance now. Can we get a logo without the US flag on it. Not trying to be anti-American in any way, but that new logo design probably won't work quite as well in Canada.
When the design was being kicked around one had a British flag on it. I'll make sure @Sully sees this, I dont know if he has any with the British flag.
I had a stack of those that I dropped off at my local MINI dealerships parts counter and Sales GM office. I think I still have some down at my desk.
Yea - it was right before the dragon. The logo will be updated when we do the next major update to the site. I'm still working through it... but clearly I thought it would happen by now. Glad you like it. @beken - any idea how many member or tags you would want with the Canada logo?
I could probably hand out a dozen or so to get them to sign up on MA. How many Canadian members do we have? Am I the only one staying fairly active here? No need to go through all the trouble to do a custom logo just for me. I was thinking of a more international flag. Perhaps St James Cross. I do like the look of the US flag on it though, but it might not fly very well on this side of the 49th.
Beside Canada be cold as hell, have the USA as your southern neighbor has kept Canada from being invaded. Other countries tend to not invade counties that have World Super powers as neighbors. ( Same goes for Mexico) Plus we are Back to Back World War Champions. ..... just saying.
Others might differ in opinion from that. At the end of WW2, Canada had one of the largest Navies in the world. Rumours being it was 3rd largest behind the US and the Royal Navy. I think there was some politics going on there. After that, I think Canada tried to pay down their war debts rather than build more war ships. At the end of the 50's, Canada cancelled their supersonic jet fighter program and most of the engineers went the the US to work. For a country 1/10th the size in population of the, I think Canada pulls their weight. On the other hand, if the Russians had invaded Canada, I'm not sure the US would have liked that. It's kind of like letting your wife walk in front of you. She can go first.....just in case there's a land mine hidden somewhere. Also, the Russian or the British probably would not have liked it if the US had taken over Canada. Not sure the Americans would have liked it either. We're too socialist. So I think there is a bit of a dilemna for both sides of the argument on whether or not Canada should build a bigger military. Of all the nations capable of building nuclear weapons, I think Canada is most capable of it. India bought a Canadian reactor and turned it into a bomb. Hence Canada is very leery of selling any nuclear tech to anybody and the US is watching (spying, if you put it bluntly, "sharing of information" if on friendly terms). Since Canada is the world's 2nd largest exporter of Uranium (my info might be out of date), I think the US would like to stay friendly with us. Anyways...just history from a different point of view.
Background on the the logo. One of the designs @Sully came up with had the British flag on both sides. the other one was this one. He had some other ideas I can't remember them well enough to describe them, I am getting old. We talked it over I remember saying I like this one because of the two flags. It's a U.S. sight but the cars are British (mostly). Perhaps the one with the Union Jack on both sides would be better. Thank you for both for keeping your response respectful. If you want to kick the US/Canadian relations around some more please start a thread here, just stay in respectful like you did in this topic. https://www.motoringalliance.com/forums/politics-and-other-messy-stuff.209/
We are being nice Dad. Lee Anyhow why not replace the Union Jack with a German flag, Since they are owned by BMW and have more BMW parts than British parts.
Woke up to a flooded basement as a pipe burst in the garage. Water everywhere, even filling up an 18 drawer metal parts rack. Had to move the MINI and found a big puddle of fresh oil underneath. I drove it a few days ago and no oil. Going into the dealer.on Monday. I trust the tech there that works on my car. Not been a good day so far. I have no Idea how much stuff is ruined in the basement. UGG !!!!!
That sucks. I’ve had a steam boiler tank, several steam pipes, hot water heater, and numerous water pipes dump water into our basement over the years. There is a drain that keeps it from getting too bad, but I’ve learned not to keep anything on the floor that can’t get wet
If anyone is looking for a nice R53 here it is...... https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2006-mini-cooper-s-24/?utm_source=dailymail&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=2019-02-01
Thanks Son! Actually you may have a good point. A german flag on one side and a Union Jack on the other.
