Thanks. I loved every minute of driving it (when the cel wasn't on). Onward... Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
There comes a time where one needs to cut their losses. I'm sorry it didn't work out for you, but man you really tried. I understand.
Today I polished the lights on the R53, it’s really time for new ones! Yesterday I pulled the cover half way back and started the R58. It’s been hibernating for a month or two and will till spring. I also ordered a ceramic coating kit for it. Thanks @Dave.0 for the help on what to order.
On my way into town for work this morning, was going through an intersection when the driver of a MINI going the other direction waved at me just as I was changing gears, so I was unable to wave back. I gave nod instead. Haven't been waved at in quite awhile.
Ok I said I was not getting it out till spring but It hasn't been driven in a while. So I decided to take it for a drive.
Same here too. But I first I have a story to tell about what happened on Friday night during the big wind storm before the snow. Will do that when I get pictures to show everybody. Let's put it this way: For those of us who ditched their runflats and was told "you can get a temporary mini spare off an old Honda Civic that has the same 4x100 bolt pattern" it will bolt right on. I have found out first hand that, yes, it will bolt on, but it won't work. I ended up using one of my summer tires for a temporary spare.
I bet it fouls the brake calliope. These dount spare wheels need to be test fitted before one needs them in a pinch. I had a MINI one & it saved me in deepest darkest Iowa one night. Looking forward to the rest of the story beken. Glad you survived.
Something on the wheel jams up against the rear brake caliper. It appears that wheel is more designed for drum brakes.
So....what happened? you might ask. I was on my way home during a big windstorm. On the highway, there is a construction zone where there are a bunch of temporary road signs held down by weights. The signs were toppling over by the very heavy winds and the weights were being pushed off the overpass onto the highway. One landed on the highway in front of the car I was following. He swerved and missed, I swerved and missed but it bounced up and caught my front driver side wheel. Thankfully, no bodywork or other damages. I think if it caught my windshield, I might have been killed.
Went to the people I bought the wheels and snowtires from originally. The wheels are about the age of my car anyways so it was coming close to getting new wheels and they sold me a set of these and mounted my snowtires on for $400. Right on time, because it snowed the next day.
