Wow beken you are lucky. Just a wheel & tire. Could have been much worse for sure. Well you got new wheels so that is good. You might try & track down the construction companies insurance company. They might pay you for one wheel & tire. Also maybe you can add a spacer to your spare tire kit. That may help it clear the caliper. Once again glad you survived.
Thankful our MINIs can make abrupt directional changes when called upon. I did call the police when I got home to tell them of the situation. The next day all the signs were bolted down to the top of flat deck trailers on the side of the highway and the highway was noticeable swept clean. Then the salt trucks appeared to prepare for the big snowfall.
I usually wave, if I can. Shifting sometimes messes that up. Very few MINI drivers wave. But, most MINI drivers around here are actually MINI owners/operators. Not car enthusiasts of any kind, let alone MINIs. Some guy in an F-series convertible yelled something to me a few days ago. I couldn't make out what he said, but he was smiling, so I assume it was good. CD
Man, I wish you would move to Texas... Houston, to be exact. Give the middle finger salute to "Bubba" in his F250 Super-Duty with 36-inch tires and exhaust stacks, at rush hour on Loop 610 South. I'll send a get-well card to the ECU, or flowers to the funeral home. CD
The weather has sucked here most of the last month. So, I haven't done much but basic point A to point B driving. It is supposed to be nice for a few days starting tomorrow, so maybe I'll get a car wash and go for a drive to "wherever the F I feel like." I need one of those. Big time cabin fever. CD
It was a very nice day here. So I got the Helmet out and took it to work. On the way I called the dealer to ask about the new GP.
I am waiting for them to get back to me. I feel sure they don't know anything about the GP yet. But the sales woman we have dealt with is a MINI enthuses I have bought a couple of cars from her. I don't expect to hear anything till tomorrow.
From everything I've read, they expect them to all be sold before they start production. IIRC they only made 2000 of the other GP models, but are building 3000 of the GP3. If what I've read is correct and they're going to make some of the in F54 trim that might account for the extra cars. Wish I could afford one of the F54 models.
The 300 will be BHP and not 300 WHP. BHP= at the crank not the wheels. My 2005 JCW (14 year old ) will still have more power (over 300 + at the crank now ) and not be ugly as hell. Oh and best thing, it’s paid off, not 40+ grand. I only pay $649.00 a year to insure it with full coverage.
I am interested if they keep it close to the concept, but it looks like now they are not doing that. I don't want a car with fake stuff hung on it either. I am still waiting to see. I know its 300 at the crank. If it starts there I bet a whole lot more is left on the table. Dave I know your R53 has more HP but it didn't come cheep. I looked at building the R53. I stopped adding when it went north of 11 grand. And that still is not close to the mods you have done. The Mistress is truly an awesome R53 but don't forget how much work you have put into it. I am sure it will be some where in the 40k range, yes that is insane but...a Mustang GT is 36 and quickly goes to 40. A RS is 41. Even trucks are 40k now.
Drove Skooby the clubster to the touchless warsh place. A valentines gift for my long suffering wife.
The new GP might even be 50K and my car is not even close to 30k with the full RMW build including the cost of the car. FYI- I have a RMW Motor that I just bought showing up to my house tomorrow that Dynoed at 467 WHP with a Turbo. It is built with all internals forged. Time to upgrade the cars heart and add a new one with only 3,000 miles on it. No, I am not going Turbo, I will be going TVS 900 next Winter and it will be at MOTD 2020. (not this year) because I am not rushing the process. I will be at MOTD this year with the current motor / build with a few things different.
Got rearended on my way home from work last night. It was snowing pretty hard and I was coming to a stop behind a line of traffic. The lady in an Audi A7 hit some ice and just bumped into my car's rear. Bumper to bumper, the plastic bumper cover is cracked, but probably no other damage. I took note that she didn't have winter tires on her car. They were "high performance" all season tires. I am not sure if her insurance is going to cover the accident. I will get the bumper fixed and check the wheel alignment. The A7 has a broken front air dam.
Gee, with all the accidents and moddings, it's probably not even worth saying I got a nail in one of my Cooper's tires fixed today...they patched it and the car is running again like new.
