I replaced the ABS control module on the R53 two of the three lights went out. I’m still getting a 5E1 4 code, ABS DSC CAN connection to DME/DDE (DSC lamp on until ignition reset) I still have to bleed the system. If any knows how to get rid of this code that would be helpful. Oh and @Crashton turned me on to these great brake lines http://kalecoauto.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=39 If I get them I won’t even have to crack to bleed valves. Thanks Chuck
That is a great site. I can order a can of elbow grease, some blinker fluid, or a left-handed screwdriver. I always wondered where to get that stuff. Check it out...
I just ordered new sway bar bushings for my S. The present ones are driving me nuts with their constant squawking. It doesn't matter if it's a smooth road, a bumpy road, good weather or bad...ugh.
The Helmet was out side last night because the R53 is still in the garage so I can finish the brakes.. a cat got on the Helmet and put two claw marks down the front of the hood. It’s I the clear bra but I can’t get it buffed out! Then found out it was low on antifreeze so I guess it must have a small leak some where. Later in the day I put the R53 up on jack stand to bleed the brake system. When the front was up on stands before I jacked up the back I saw a good bit of water dripping. Put the rear on stands. When I looked at the battery the box was full of water! Now I know why my sub was hissing, the power wire to the amp was under water. I removed the covers to look at the back of the tail lights, both sides were dry. Then I removed trim piece on the hatch that covers the wiper. This is what I found. It looks like that is where the water is coming form.
Lee, to fix the cat scratches on your paint film try a hair dryer or even better pour a bottle of really hot water on the film. I use a tea kettle and pour the water on the film. The heat helps the film self heal and close the scratch if it is not too deep. Also that’s another reason why I got rid of my rear wiper. They all leak! UGH
Go ahead, Lee, blame it all on that poor cat! He's dead now, anyway...especially after first drinking that antifreeze and realizing that that was his tenth life and that the end was near, so he wanted to leave this world by giving you a good bye scritch to remember him by!
So yesterday I was organizing a MINI driver's fish n chip run for this coming Saturday. The run would start at a shopping Mall in Vancouver and stop by one of the MINI dealerships in Richmond on the way, and continue on to the seaside village of Steveston where we would visit a fish n chip place that is built on a floating barge. The MINI dealer in downtown Vancouver called me up and said he had around 10 other MINIs who wanted to join the run. I said that was great. Then he said he had reservations. He didn't want us to stop at MINI Richmond as some of those cars were customers of his. I said that was fine. They can continue on to Steveston on their own and we can meet them there. Then he said we should start from downtown at his dealership. I said there's no parking there and it's too late to change it as there are others already committed to meet at the mall where there is enough parking area to stage the run. The reason we were stopping at MINI Richmond was so I could pick some parts I ordered, and some of the people that work there are avid motorers and wanted to come along during their lunch breaks. Later, the rep from the dealership downtown called me back and said it was too late for them to organize joining us. I said that was okay. Maybe next time. Despite my buying all 3 of my MINIs from the dealership downtown, they stopped giving me discounts on parts and service when their ownership changed and they fired their service manager a year ago. They charge me full list price for anything. Though I still have a good relationship with their sales people, their service department has already scared my kid away from bringing her MINI to them for service. I hope they turn around their customer relationship soon.
Heck do what is best for you & your friends. If the dealer wants to help great, but in this case they are being a pain. Organizing things can be a royal pain. Have a good run beken.
I got back from a 7-day photoshoot in Corpus Christi yesterday. My MINI spent the whole week at the airport, so it is rather dirty, although not as bad as I expected. It was a "studio" shoot, as in we turned a warehouse building into a studio. 10X30 softbox. 18,000 watts. 108 amps. Anyone know what those cars are? CD
They do look like Ferraris, although more like a 250/275 than a 330 GTC. They are smaller than a 250/275 Ferrari, too. Hint, like a Pantera, the body and chassis were built in Italy, and the engine and drivetrain was added in the USA. CD
