I ran out today in my MINI and picked up 5 gallons on VP M1 Methanol for the Dragon. Lee, pollen is no issue as long as you wipe down the car well with Gyeon Prep before you start applying the coating. I do Wipe down the whole car when I am ready to coat, then do the panel I am worth it on right before I apply the coating. Just like prepping before painting....just keep the dust and pollen off for the area you are coating. As for polishing, slower is faster. Spend time making slow passes at setting 3 or lower. Go over areas slowly and overlap by 1/2 a pad. Do not do fast passes like you are washing the car. Slower is faster. Take your time and keep you pads clean. Let the polish and pad do the work. FYI - I never have to run the DA above setting 3 to return excellent clear results. High speeds equals potential swirls and product splatter. Product not on the paint working is a waste.
Thanks Dave. I am a little worried about pollen settling on it as I coat. Does the coating dry fast enough so pollen won't get stuck to the coating?
Yup, pollen will not be an issue. Just do not let it get wet for the first 24 hours and do not wash for a week at least while it’s curing.
My sweet dog, Pepper, is dying. I can't stand this shit and thinking of the Dragon is about the farthest thing on my mind right now.
Sorry to hear about your friend. I lost my little dog a month before last years Dragon. Hate that you have to go through this.
I picked up my car yesterday. There are some glitches going on with the wheels and tires---they aren't working well with the air suspension. I'm trying to get it sorted out before the Dragon, but I might be riding on my current wheel/tire combination. Secondly, I had 380 injectors installed. The old injectors look horrible for only having aprox 30,000 miles were dirty. My car is running GREAT with the new injectors. Better than I ever remembered. I'm will to bet that sitting in a garage for 10 years gummed them up. The splitter and the taillights look great. I can't wait to get on the road for the Dragon.
Your car sat in a garage for 10 years? WTF! Did you own it then? What were you driving in the meantime?
No, my car sat in a garage in Key Largo Fl for 10 years, being driven infrequently as the owner's wife "didn't like it". It had 3,648 original miles when I bought it in 4/2015. It now has 29,750 miles. And more to come....
Sorry to hear this. My last dog lived 17 years, and she LOVED to go for rides in the car. She sat up in the passenger seat like a human. People in other other cars would get a good chuckle out of that. She only had one collar her whole life. Tacky day-glo green, LOL. I kept the collar, and when I went for Sunday drives, I would hang it on my rear view mirror. She was with me, in spirit. If you lose Pepper before the Dragon, maybe think about bringing something, whether a collar, or Pepper's favorite toy or blanket with you to "ride shotgun" with you. I have a new dog now, but still have the collar tucked away in a bedroom drawer, with some other family heirlooms. CD
It was rainy all day, and my MINI is clean, so I didn't go anywhere. I have food. I have beverages. No need to get the car dirty. We have the same aforementioned pollen issue going on. Ours is this bright yellow live oak pollen. Since the car is in the garage when not in use, I can deal with it. The leaf blower and/or California Duster handles it. CD
I installed a NM rear sway bar and a Big Pair chassis brace. Only thing left is the wheels. Still back ordered. Looking forward to testing it out on MOTD..
Just ticked over 36K miles yesterday. To celebrate, I ordered a set of wheel studs and lug nuts from NM. Jerry, as always was great to deal with. DT is going to install them for me at the Dragon.
My car is ready to go to the Dragon now. I am getting a alignment Friday and then detailing my car this weekend, but I could leave for Fontana now.
My S was in Columbus, OH all day yesterday, getting a new SC belt, belt tensioner, crank pulley, oil change, tranny flush and some other stuff so I guess that other than packing my cigars and other things, I'm about ready to roll out in 2 weeks.
Looked at my trickle chargers today. All three cars are still under car covers where they have been since November. Maybe going to take one out this weekend, just to see if the tires are still round.
