I love my Royal Grey S and the birds, I guess, don't seem to mind it as much as other colors, so it remains basically untouched for some occasional windshield splatter.
I washed Teddy’s car at Fontana before I detailed it for the car show. I went to get more coffee and a smoke and a bird the size of a Condor crapped on the painted part of his roof and half his drivers glass. It was a huge poop. I rinsed it right off as I had already coated his car with 2 layers Gyeon MOHS when I detailed it a few years ago. His car still looks great. Anyhow after a quick detail and prep we parked it on the ball field for the car show. Teddy won Best in his class, Best engine compartment and the big one, BEST IN SHOW! P.S. I did not enter my car in the car show because I don’t compete against my friends. After that we got him parted up for his journey home and he took off for Cincinnati, OH. We he got home he did not feel well and is currently in Mercy Anderson Hospital. I talked to him a little while ago today and he sounds better and is feeling better. In typical “Teddy” style he said he feels great because his is getting the good drugs and should be out of the hospital in a few days.
Congrats on your win Teddy! Get well, get home & get off those drugs. I hope it's not gyeon poisoning.
@Dave.0 thanks for the update! Glad it was a good time at the Dragon. @Goldsmithy congratulations on your win! Take care I hope your out of the hospital soon.
Not today, but Sunday, I was driving back from Baltimore in the rain and plowed through a couple inches of standing water at about 80. The Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires (215/45/17) sliced through the water very well with no drama at all except . . . In addition to the impressive plume, the water popped the left front arch trim almost all the way off. When I stopped to put it back on it flopped under the tire which took it the rest of the way off as well as crushing the reflector and bulb and tearing the wires off. New trim, reflector, bulb, socket, harness, and clips are on order, and all should be back to normal when they arrive in a few days.
Replaced the left front wheel arch trim, reflector and bulb, socket and connector. See post 17132 above. Put Geon Trim Q2 on the arch. Should probably re-apply to the other 3 since it’s been about half a year since the last application. Also replaced the clips on the rear right arch which weren’t very secure. Next things on the to do list are: Noisemaker delete. May take out the Vanos solenoid and clean it up at the same time as it will be easier to get to. Transmission magnetic drain plug and send sample for used oil analysis (I wonder what the specs are on LT-3 gear oil as no one seems to know yet and BMW doesn’t publish them) G-LOC GS-1 brake pads and plain Zimmerman rotors).
Friday, I picked up the MINI from MINI of Allentown's body shop. I had dropped it off there the week before MOTD (which is why I was in my F150 this year) for them to have a second go at repairing the right rear taillight rust that didn't work the year before. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they actually did it right this time by replacing the whole rear quarter panel. Hopefully, the rust doesn't come back anytime soon, and I can keep this R53 rolling for many years to come.
Tomorrow I take the Helmet to put it on a dyno. $175 4 runs. I will be doing it at 8am before the heat of the day. It was going to be 3 runs but I told them I wanted to do two runs with the tune turned on and one with it off to see the stock numbers. They said they would do two and two. We'll see how it goes. Years ago I took the R53 to a dyno day, by the time they got my car on the dyno it was raining and the guy was not sure what gear to do the pulls in. I am not sure he knew what he was doing. Anyway it had 160 at the wheels with the 17% pulley, exhaust, and CAI. That was a bit of a disappointment, I thought it would be about 180. I know the helmet will be more but this time I have no expectations. I wanted some bace numbers for when I add some mods.
Going through things this weekend, forgot about this... Found it in Chad's decal bins at MOTD, "HAD" to put it on the car.
