Went to the show today, but a huge storm came in so they closed it down at 11:30. Styers and I were across the street eating lunch when they closed it down, we came out just as it started to rain lightly - we were the only two cars left at the venue! I got about 1/4 of the way home and the storm hit in earnest - rain came down in torrents. I hit a HUGE puddle, water clear up over the hood and my engine died, right in the middle of a very busy intersection - rain still coming down in buckets. It took about 10 minutes but if finally hit on one or two cylinders and then after milking along for about a minute it finally picked up and roared again. The rest of the way home was no issue other than having to drive around people who were crawling along at 15 mph with their flashers on! I pulled into the garage and of course the rain stopped..... 3 green cars in a row!
Picked mine up from the dealer today. Everything's running fine now. They must has updated/reset not just the DME, but all the modules, because I lost all my custom programming. Made sure I had the JCW Tune still installed though. Not a big deal. I'll just wait for the next cool day and take the iPad out and reprogram everything. I'm just happy that it's running good again.
Swapped a Dimple magnetic drain plug into the transmission drain plug and took a sample off from the fill plug hole for 35K analysis by Blackstone and topped up with a few ounces of LT-4. Noisemaker delete (actually took out the big plastic oem tube and replaced it with the WMW straight metal tube and just plugged the smaller hose to the noisemaker and firewall). Getting the old plastic piece off from the lower rubber hose was tedious and difficult, but persistence won. Quieter and simpler air path? - yes, the fake buzzy turbo sound that got transmitted to the firewall is gone and it is a little quieter overall. More HP? - doubtful. Better turbo/throttle response - not enough to discern. Happy? - yes.
Went to a Porsche Cars and Coffee with friends. Saw a few nice Ferrari ‘s over all it was a good day.
I was there as well, and didn't take many pics myself either. But the few I did take... A pair of NSXs: Nice little Karman Ghia: The "80s kid's wall poster" irl: And my personal favorite that just happened to be next door in that shop's "yard:" Sent from my SM-G975U1 using Tapatalk
Yesterday I took off the G-LOC R8 front pads (Dragon pads) and put the daily G-LOC’s on. The big Brembo’s make changing pads so easy. Also added a 2nd coat of POR to my RMW project motor while it’s on the stand.
On my way home from the office last night, I picked up, not 1, but 2 windshield dings. I didn't even see anything hit the car. I just thought I got a bird dropping as it suddenly appeared while I was driving and then I noticed it was a chip. It could have been time for windshield #9, but I had some leftover ding repair so that's what I spent the evening doing. One, I managed to fill so you can't even see it. The other one, you can see but hopefully, I filled it well enough so it won't expand....at least until I'm ready to get another windshield. Since I've had so many replaced already, the monopoly insurance company here won't replace them anymore.
Yes the MINI windscreen with its upright stance sure does take a beating. I had to have mine replaced due to extreme pitting. When the sun was low it looked like a million points of light. Now the GTI has much more rake to the windscreen & so far it is pretty much pit free.
