Replaced the cabin air filter. Remember to pop the latches on the inside (against the firewall side) first or else they will be very difficult to reach if you pop the passenger facing side first. I just learned that by experience.
While driving to work this morning, I noticed my glove box no longer rattles when going over some bumps. So I opened it, and it didn't open. Seems the handle is no longer attached to the latch. I found this on the floor of my car. Does anybody know how to attach it back on....with the glove box door closed. I can't open it.
My (minimal liability only) insurance on the car is more than a dollar a mile. Meanwhile, I still have gas in the tank from spring 2018, so the premium charge for high octane gas doesn't hurt so much.
Today I took off my A-Pillar trim and front belt line trim for the glass guy coming tomorrow to install my new Pilkington windshield. This makes it windshield #4 and only $300.00 installed at my house.
A big box of MINI parts & a goodie bag was dropped off by my favorite UPS driver yesterday. Love this guy he is the spitting image of Newman on Seinfeld. eMINIparts.com for all your oem MINI parts needs.
Sunday, my good friend Rich C and I got up early and went out to High Plains Raceway for a lapping day, we chose the intermediate class so we could enjoy the open lapping. We had a great day, it was blue skies until around 3pm when it started to get real dark and cloudy, so we packed it up. My Countryman did pretty well, if I decide to keep it for another 2 years, I know what it needs to be trackable and somewhat faster, a nice rear swaybar (NM I think), possibly 1 inch lower all around, open the exhaust up a bit just so I can hear the revs, and some sticky tires, the all-seasons squealed like a small herd of piggies on every corner. Rich set a personal best with his 04 R53, mildly modded of a 2:20 full track layout, not bad at all since it has bee 4 years since we last were at HPR. I was running around 2:22. We did surprise a few of the guys out in the groups, last session was all newbies and blue folks (intermediate), I set the pole position and held it for 2 full laps, then 4 or 5 slipped by, I can say the Ford Focus RS and a nice subi sti are fast and could be faster with stickier tires. The surprise was a Honda Fastback with an Honda Infinity 2.0 engine swap, nicely setup. He caught me at the end of Highway Strait (a long pull) and took the inside line between 4 and 5, I kept with him for a bit, but the CM wallows like a pig. Rich gave him a good run and then Rich pulled away from him, which really shocked the crap out of him, we talked after when we were loading up and I went over to see what he had done to the Honda FB. I think his ecu was getting hot and he was miss firing, so it might explain why Rick pulled away but then Rich's Blu is named appropriate "Blu-by-you".... I will post up a picture or two when I get some digital from the track photographer. Don
Installed a magnetic phone mount. It's perfectly what I was looking for. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
I got some images from Jay B, I will try to upload 2 of them then when I get them up in my Google Drive area I will provide a link, once again I spent all my sushi money on pictures. Don
Hey folks, I'm still alive. Some of you might care. I haven't done anything fun with my MINI in quite a while. My house is 18 years old, and is right at that age where %&@# is going wrong left and right. Putting gas in the MINI is about all I can afford right now. My MINI is surrounded by a garage full of lumber. I'm ready to be done with this crap. CD
