Pretty sure that a leak down test won't give you that info. The kit Lee listed seems like the way to go for this.
My daughter is at a camp this week and i sent her this picture... She asked, “Change Your what?” I said, “Oil, every 3,000 miles.” Apparently that is a ‘Dad joke’
Swapped out the MTF last night. She's also now Dimple plug equipped! Almost made a big booboo though. I left the GP belly pan under the car when I backed out to take a test run and check for leaks. I did catch a corner of it but no damage. Praise the lort. I wanted to check for leaks because I got (and installed) the magnetic plug with a washer but the OE bolt didn't have a washer. I was dreading that I'd have to do another MTF change this weekend No leaks, all good. As of last night, all of her fluids have been refreshed.
A relative stayed at my place while visiting and when they left, they left me some money in a Thank-you card. So I bought the license to Bimmercode. Now I can change everything in the Countryman and my kid's R56.
Still haven't ruled out fuel. But, after I put the fuel pressure guage in, the pressure is down to about 10 psi. And the cylinder misfire is always cylinder 1. What are the chances that injector for cylinder 1 is leaking? This along with, sputtering at around 5500 to 6000ish rpm. Maybe I didn't do something right when I changed the fuel filter. I've been researching that too. I know what I'll be doing this weekend. Thanks man! Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
I cheated on Wolfgang for a couple of days. Had a fun couple of days with this guy, The Green Machine. I will be sure to make it up to Wolfgang, with a spa day very soon.
Replaced the manual transmission fluid today and dumped a bunch of used motor oil and transmission oil into the recycling tank at Advanced Auto. (37K miles - original fluid had lost quite a bit of viscosity per Blackstone oil analysis). Used BMW MTF-LT-4 75W90 - same as the original fill. Should be good for another 40-50K.
I took my car out for a run then came home and washed it. Then I tucked it back in the garage for two weeks.
Long weekend with the MINI5280 group with the MITM (Minis in the Mountains) National MINI event), in Salida Colorado. A number of great rides planned and unplanned, an afternoon brewery drive, 2 brew pubs, 1 distillary, a drive in movie night and parade up in Buena Vista, Colorado. Good to see 120-150 MINIs cruising the high mountain valleys. Local were friendly and welcoming, it is all about the drives and food. Good food. Salida is the end city on the rafting tour on the Arkansas River, if you like rafting, rapids and heat. It was all good. MITM had a nice MINI car show, folks came out from Florida and California and states in the middle, it was good. Gets planned for every two years, MTTS (Mini takes the States) is MITM off year. My Countryman got cleaned up one time, daily afternoon mountain showers will slow down daily car washing.
Wolfgang got his dashcam installed, finally. Wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it may have been to run/hide cables and power. Done and done in about 20min.
It rides very well. I'm comparing it to blown oe suspension so I have a better ride quality and absorbs bumps and uneven roads in a good manner. It does ride on the softer side due to its progressive rates but I do not feel they are bouncy at all at highway speeds. It's exactly what I was looking for. Just wanted to replace worn oe suspension but lower it at the same time. Highly recommend for a daily driver looking to lower their rides. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
