I read that too. I plan on changing it to the damper one. It was a quick temporary fix. Seriously dont want the bearing failure. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
Finished my boost(map) gauge install. It's a obd2 multi-gauge from Amazon. Currently displaying MAP in the center, coolant on bottom left, and IAT on bottom left. The bar on the bottom shows RPM ans the dotted lines are shift lights. Does anyone know where the IAT is being measured? Is it pre intercooler or post? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
I know it' s super old, and I didn't want to bump the thread, but HUGE thanks to Dave! https://www.motoringalliance.com/threads/toggle-woggle.14060/#post-141779 Got the old toggle wobble, disassembled center console, got the panel out and the 3 tabs on the bottom literally fell out of the unit. Sanded down the joining surfaces, and with about $.25 worth of JB Plastic weld, everything is back together and rock solid. Since I have the panel out, I'm going to install the Ian Cull Auto Up circuit I've had for 3 years, and wrap the downtubes in the carbon fiber wrap like I did the dash. Might as well since it's all apart, and that gives me something to do tonight. Thanks again, Dave!!! Huge help!
I drove my car today. It was the first time in about a month. I only went to Dr. office for a checkup but it was a fun ride.
I didn't know mine was even bad (no lights) until the engine started pissing oil out of the valve cover otw to work one morning. When the shop got it they changed the oil cap thinking it came from there. Then they had to run the car on the lift while holding the brakes so it would hit boost and figure out where the oil was coming from. A bit of a headache but they fixed it (had I known what the problem was, I'da just done it myself)
Finally got around to color matching the ultra gauge display to the rest of the gauges. Downtubes, wrapped, including the PITA cup holder, and getting the lines matched up. Before and after:
That's nice man. I want to get a hold of the chrono guage package for mine Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
Put the clip on heat shield with attached insulation wrap onto the turbo oil supply line. My R55 is a 2009 so it didn’t come with one. Only 37K and the previous owner was OCD about oil changes and idling before shutoff so the line probably isn’t coked up already. Also put the WMW turbo wrap on last year when I bought it. Used a couple hose picks and a long thin screwdriver to do the wrap without having to take a bunch of stuff apart.
Friday I drove the Helmet to work and then when my wife and I went out. Last night we watched Chasing Perfect the Frank Stephenson documentary. It was interesting. When asked to design the Mini, he said he starting as if he were the one to design the changes to the classic mini starting in 69 and how he would have evolved it to the present. He said it needed to be aggressive but also soft so both Men and women, young and old would like it. He said it walked the the line between a guy and girl car. Two things he said makes me change the way I look at the Gen 1 Mini. First he said he sat in his office and tried to draw the perfect woman's breast. That became the mirrors......I just laughed but then he said, when you sit in the car you are looking over the thighs and pelves area of a woman. Oh MY I am sure BMW is soooo glad he shared that. To funny! now remember he is talking about a justa because the S came latter. Anyone know of a nice Gen1 mini for sale??? Now I know why I miss driving my Gen1..........and I thought it was the sound of the supercharger I missed P.S. hay @Dave.0 now I really think The mistress is the perfect name for your MINI!
Did my first oil change since buying it couple months ago. Went with Liquimoly Glow in the dark 5w-40 with lifetime replacement from fcpeuro. A little plastic plunger popped out, looks to be the check valve. I just put it back in place for now... stupid design. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
More tinkering as the conversion to the Green Machine comes. Got a set of Scuttles for $20 on Ebay to black out, they got prepped, and painted last night. Should look good with the Green S in there, and the Blackout LED indicator light. I have one more addition that I will work on tomorrow, and hope that it'll work. The green S shot is simply mock up with some vinyl I had. Properly cut ones will go in its place. Blackout Grill is all set to go. New Scoop is here. MINI driving light covers got a touch of green. Lights themselves got some yellow film. Grass Green Vinyl is the wrap color. Modified the puddle lights to go with the green.
This was actually a couple of weekends ago. Went motoring on Vancouver Island. There is a twisty mountain highway portion called the Malahat. Chased another MINI Countryman up the hill. Then arrived at the ferry terminal at 2:00pm to catch the 2:30pm sailing back to the mainland. Turns out there was a very long line waiting to get back to Vancouver on the hourly sailings. We ended up waiting in line and finally got on the 8:30pm sailing. My previous record, 35 years ago, was 4 sailings.
Lee, I need your help locating a code reader that helps find the problems plaguing my wife's MCS. My local mechanic's reader evidently does not identify MINI/Bimmer stuff.
Schwaben makes one. I think Lee has one. If not, I'll loan you mine for the price of mailing it to you. And return, of course.
The EML and Service Engine Soon lights go on at various times. Sometimes they will go off when the car is restarted and other times, the car must sit for a few days before the lights go back off, which is why the car is presently in the hands of my local mechanic. I brought this to the attention of MAG MINI, in Dublin, Ohio, earlier, and they could find nothing wrong. On my way back to Piqua [75 miles], the lights came on again. Thanks for your offer, but, since I have 3 Gen 1 MINIs, I think I will benefit more if I just go and buy one of those Schwabens.
@wmwny, @vetsvette is correct it’s the schwaben this is the one I have https://www.ecstuning.com/b-schwaben-by-foxwell-parts/professional-bmw-mini-scan-tool/014020sch01a~scf/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIhPSdo4Ck5AIVRv_jBx3abQNOEAQYASABEgLD1_D_BwE but you can get them on amazon too, that is better then giving your money to ECS
