My wife and I drove the helmet to Cars and Coffee this morning then went to a car show this afternoon in the Helmet. I forget how much I like driving that car.
It has a very bad rattle in the left rear when you hit bumps. I jacked it up but every thing is very tight. I hope it's not my coil over but I don't know what els it could be. I guess when I have time I will take it off and check it.

Pulled my car out of the garage to finish last weekends wash. I only did the wheels last week.

Today I washed the whole car, vacuumed it out and RainX’ed the glass.

Drove Skooby to the gas station & filled it up with 93 octane. My sweet wife can't seem to read a gas gauge so it's up to me to keep her MINI filled up. I don't mind it sure beats bringing her 5 gallons when she runs out. :Dead:

Post a picture of the “gunk” you are talking about? It may be Cosmoline a wax like substance they spry inside panelists to prevent rust. It tends to leak out when the engine gets warm and looks like candle wax.

You can wipe it off with a cloth and some simple green cleaner but be careful because of you rub to had it will remove the pain also. The under hood and rear hatch jams are not clear coated like the rest of the car.

Got my oil sample results back from Blackstone Labs today. Everything looks very good, I'm happy. They say I can easily stretch my intervals to 6,500 miles, but that isn't going to happen. Oh heck no.

I sent two samples of oil off a few years ago after 3,200 only miles and the oil was spent. Remember I run Meth and only use Amsoil Signature or Motul. Methanol keeps cylinder temps low, keeps the motor very clean, but all the carbon extra meth ends up in the oil which makes frequent fresh oil changes essential. If you play the big HP game you have to expect this expense. Fresh oil is cheap insurance for any motor especially a performance motor.

That sounds exactly what I’m talking about! It looks terrible.
What is this simple green cleaner you speak of?

Simple Green can be found at automotive stores, as well as at supermarkets or big box stores.

The nice thing about Simple Green is you can mix it to your desired strength & use it for a variety of cleaning uses.

All decals off, spoiler is off, all badges removed, all residues removed...all spots where things were are buffed and polished. Down to just getting the plastidip clear bra off, will start with that project this weekend. I'm really hoping that a soak in wd40 or goo gone and a pressure washer will make fast work of it. Fingers crossed.

No drying? Wheels are the only thing I really dislike cleaning and generally don't! I can't see them when I am driving...
Been thinking about buying new Wheels with a more simple design just so they would clean easier. But too much money 4 really no other purpose than that. I would for sure use Gyeon if there was no drying! Thanks.

Not long ago the "Pro Exhaust" was mounted and it was... "wow! now that 'is' a JCW..."
Times marches on and an "AWE CAI" is installed. I go "wow! now that 'really' is a JCW..."
Today I installed an "NM Engineering Power Module" and guess what I said?... Nothing! My grin for the 150 miles or so of my afternoon drive did not allow me to vocally express a single word!

And I have it, and will leave it, on the lower Octane as we only have 91 and I 90% drive above 7000' where of course the air is thinner. I don't want to know how it drives on the High setting. I have no budget for a Headstone yet.

Been actually reading "here" unanimous praises, [thank you all who have posted past sentiments about it...], always told myself "I do not need it" [of course not!], and yet as always my shoulder's voice [not so quiet] goes "if not NOW? then When?"... Don't be like me, don't even think about it... Just do it...

This afternoon and my local backyard. This car does sees City streets or traffic...

Most water 80% slide right off for the rest I use my 200mph electric toro leaf blower. I use a leaf blower to dry my whole car because using dry towels crashes the clearcoat even when using microfiber towels.

Also, I am an old detailer and OCD so I hate all scratches.

Talk about OCD! After four years of Culinary School in Switzerland I graduated with an OCD Diploma!!! No regrets ever though... only some did not like working with me!!!

I will try that product for my rims.

We have the hardest mineral water here in the country [40+ when the National average does not even go over 14!]. So I go to a "touch-less tunnel car wash" since I cannot wash it here at home. I also use a Mach1 [!!!] leaf blower but never fast enough for water stains to form if here... I use "Menzerna" products which I really like. Mercedes uses those products to finish their cars. Of course there is an Internet war on car products!!! I have watched 40+ hours of tutorial from Larry who owns AMMO in NY. Very helpful guy and one you can get in touch with. The car is black and I only have a couple carports... So... It is dirty 90% of the time and that is for now fine with me. Life is too short to sweat over such aspects... Thought about renting a garage near by, but... too much!

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated.

PS: have you used RENEW products? I am thinking for the plastic that surrounds the cars!!! Heard a lot of good about it. Stay the color it is suppose to for a long time...

    Stay well, Ara

I used Prima Nero on my 2006 MCS to protect the plastic & keep it looking good. Been a while since I've seen my old MINI, but the last time I did it was 11 years old & the plastic still looked new.

On my wife's clubster I'm using 303 to keep the plastic looking decent.

Once the plastic goes all to heck you can use Dave O's secret sauce to bring it back.

My GTI has no plastic cladding. Man am I ever happy about that. :D
