Great value for the price. Way under $20K with 16K on it. Ford Dealer who had no idea what they were selling. The "Trailhawk" model is the only one that I would have ever considered. Threw a Dometic fridge/freezer in the back, portable solar, 10G water and I can be gone for days. I like it when that happens [with much research however] as the 2018 JCW I found at a huge Subaru Dealer in Las Vegas with also 16K on. They had less clue! Funny thing... I drove it on the "green" mode bitching about its performance with the salesman sitting next to me! Told him I would buy against my better judgement since I had flown in from NM. That is when he gave me an even better deal. Low $20's! Those car Dealers don't like to keep many used cars on their lots.

    Stay well, Ara

It's that time of year again. Yes the air is having a shrinkage factor due to colder temps. Yesterday this was sent from my sweetie. She left her clubster out overnight & the air shrank. All tires aired up & all is well for now.

I had the automatic transmission in the MINI serviced. From what I've read, the automatic transmission in the MINI should be serviced every 50,000 miles (despite MINI's claim of lifetime fluid). I tried to get an estimate for a transmission service at my local MINI dealership and they said that it wasn't necessary. The odometer was just a few miles short of 50,000 miles. I read up on how to do it myself, but it is quite an involved process to access the pan on the automatic and I didn't want to do it. My VW has the same transmission and the flat rate manual says it takes 1.5 hours. For the MINI, the flat rate manual says 3.2 hours. There is a transmission shop near me that specialises in Aisin 09G and 09M transmissions, like the MINI has, so I took it to them.

I haven't had any problems with the transmission, this was preventative maintenance.

I have the transmission fluid serviced every 35,000 on the clubster. I really don't want to buy another one.

My GTI service is at 40,000 & it's a $350 service. Once again I don't want to spend money on a new box of cogs.

You mean he had a Renegade Trailhawk? I can understand him. If I had not had the mods I probably would have sold it also. Originally very slow take off and the 9 speed tranny would take forever to change! Especially downhill downshifting. It would pick up 10mph before getting in the lower gear! All is really good now!

    Stay well, Ara

MINI “Lifetime” fluids always cracked me up. Always change auto trans fluid ever 40K no matter what it’s in.

Since I am OCD have mine changed in my 6 speed Diff fluid Getrag every couple of years. My OS GIKEN LSD was not cheap and like all fluids including oil and brake fluid fresh clean fluids keep a car running well.

Fresh fluids are cheap insurance for expensive builds.

Exactly! Well said. "Lifetime" also cracks me up. I somehow believe it is a way for the manufacturers and the dealers to make more money. I might be wrong, probably so but that is how it looks like.

Ara, can you give any details on your auto trans tune module in your Jeep? What did it do to the shifting and performance, and how do you like it?

They make one for the MINI, but Info and reviews are scarce for any make, and $500 with a no return policy makes it hard to purchase.

Lets put it this way, if I had not had the "auto flash" installed I would have not kept the Jeep. It is quick "bang... bang..." changes! Auto or manual with the shifter [up the mountain for sure].
The gizmo actually becomes yours if the Jeep has to go in and put on the computer and I can re-install it in about a minute. It is however "proprietary" to the specific owned vehicle.
I am trying to decipher "why" you would want that for the Mini? Are you manual or paddle shift? If manual I am sure you would not need it. If paddle shift I find mine very quick to the change. Let me know.

Go-Pedal [no need for the Bluetooth however as I always leave it on the high sport performance]

I just returned from the shop. I had the right front wheel bearing replaced on my '06 MCSa, as I continue to prepare for next year's MOTD.

I just called to have that and a walnut blasting on my mother-in-law Clubman. They said 500 plus tax for the blasting but would have to look up the transmission service. What did they charge you?

    The MINI- $404.00 before tax.

My VW cost $200 before tax at the same transmission shop, they have the same transmission.
