to answer the question, there should be NO play in the top shock bushings or it will def clunk over bumps. I agree about the locking lug bolts - I know wheel theft probably still happens, particularly if you have an unusual or expensive set of wheels, but I don't believe in using those things - sooner or later they will fail.
Yea my stock bushings got smaller from age/usage. Thats why I went with the Powerflex. That was on the R53
You know what I did with my Mini today?........nothin You know what I did with my MINI yesterday day?......nothin You know what I did with my MINI the day before?...... Nothin You know what I did with my MINI Monday?...... Nothin! Maybe it will quit raining tomorrow and I can drive it to work
The struts were replaced this year. The balance and the alignments are perfect and were also done again this year. Since I have 3 MINIs, I don't drive my S as much as used to. That said, when I have the 15s installed, it's usually from April to November, because then the Blizzaks go back on. Those crappy BFGs were just under 3 years old and certainly should have lasted longer. On my way home from the installer, those Nittos almost made me cry from happiness..soooooooo smooth and quiet, as compared to those BFGs. When I left this morning to the installer, it was 26 miles down in light rain and the car felt as if it was wallowing. The way home, in heavy rain, was about 45 miles and I never feared a bit. I drove secondary roads, cluttered with leaves and the new tires reminded me of how many pleasurable miles I put on the old set of Nittos when I tracked my S, drove to and from the Dragon, and, [gasp] interstate miles with nary a hitch. I turned 138 k on the way home.
I read an e-mail today from Motoring Alliance. That's why I'm here now. I haven't seen an e-mail from this site since who knows when. I've apparently been gone for some time now, as I had forgotten that I was a member here. This topic struck a cord with me. Especially when one member said just today that they have done "NUTHIN" with there MINI. Just over two months ago, I fractured my left shoulder in three places, so My better half did most all of the weekend driving. That's in the 05 R53. I haven't even tried to drive my Classic, as it is RHD, and requires shifting gears. That may happen this coming weekend, we'll see what the weather does, as the physical therapy is paying off in aces and spades. I'll let ya'll know if that happens Monday.
NOPE. The ones I just got rid of were utter pieces of crap, even though warranted for 35k. However, I DO love Nitto NEO GENs and will keep them as my non winter tire until I no longer drive. They are the best rain tires I have ever had.
Powerflex bushings acquired AND I got the keys to the shop at the local high school. I have a shop to myself for the entire weekend! I may just put it up on the lift and look at it for a couple of hours to start with. Along with swapping out those bushings, my front bumper cover near the fog light/brake cooling duct keeps popping out for whatever reason. Will be pulling the wheel well out and snapping all that back together too. Happy Weekend yall!
Don't know how you got the keys to the high school shop, you have to have way more than a note from your mon to even get in the door of where I went to high school today! I also can't get into the shop where I taught college for 5 years...... Used the Clubby to go pick up the Sprite block and head from the machine shop, now if it will just warm up a bit more I can get couple of coats of paint on it while I wait for the cam and some other parts to come in from England.
It does. Wasn't really sure what it was until recently. I've never had a car that required so many little things be replaced along the way. That said, the only other "sports" car I've owned besides this thing was an 80' Z28. That f'n thing was bullet proof
The other half is a principal at the school and I've met the shop teacher, talked to him about his Jeep and said told him I thought it was cool so we're basically best friends now.
Thanks. My winter tires have aftermarket wheels and their own set of bolts so I'm good for the next 4 months.
Put my winter tires/wheels on my MINI and my wife’s VW Cabrio for the season. Topped up the compact spares, too.
