Even if you dipped aluminum in liquid nitrogen it wouldn't shatter or become embrittled because it doesn't have a ductile to brittle transition no matter how cold it gets. Copper and gold are the same way. Why do I know that? My brain is full of useless information.
She popped into limp mode otw home Friday afternoon. Once I hit my exit, pulled into a Audi dealership to run a diag and clear the code. Salesman walks up to me and asks if he can help in any way, I said unless you can sell me a high-pressure fuel pump for a MINI under $800 he couldn't. Then he tried to talk me into a test drive, mind you the whole time I'm looking at my phone reading the bad news... But I was using their parking lot so it's all good. I told him I might be interested but the MINI would be my down payment, he says "Great! It looks like you've taken good care of it". Then I said, and it has a branded title. He ended our conversation and walked away So after the codes were cleared the car drove fine until I got a few miles down the road. In the video you can see it would start to go under boost and all, then pop into limp mode. This was the first time I've run into limp mode that didn't stay.. limp.... My homie at the stealership is gonna try to get MINI to cover it, otherwise, I'll be doing the replacement myself.
Man you have to love a desperate salesman. LOL Hope your friend can get your HPFP done for you. That would be a heck of a nice Christmas present.
I hope they replace it for you! Maybe you should have asked if he would trade even for a TT Just dont tell them it goes limp.......they may get the wrong impression

Saturday I ordered my RMW Harrop TVS900, new RMW billet belt tensioner, cometic head gasket and 55mm pulley. Just need to pick up a set of FIC match data tech1,000 cc injectors. Oh and my order has already shipped.
Holy moly! 1000cc injectors!? JCW injectors are 380cc. I know people run bigger ones like 550. But 1000cc? That’s some air pump your building Dave!
I have had 380’s 440’s and 550’s now we jump to 1000 cc’s. It’s all about the fuel delivery and scaling with the Vipec stand alone ECU. The OEM ECU is long gone. I have all the air I need with the OEM coil, and wires as they provide all the spark needed for big power. JAN also sells 1100’s and 1650’s but those big boys are for e85 cars.
Excellent news! MINI will cover the $1300 cost of the new pump! I'll pay about $450-ish for labor, shop fees and the pressure hose. My advisor there really went above and beyond for me. She's not gone in to limp mode since last Friday, but will still be getting a new HPFP tomorrow.
Thats Great! And your car looks great. Just keep feeding your Mini blue pills till it gets its new pump.
Excellent, how low is your MINI, good news on the HPFP. I thought these units were covered under a 100K negotiated extended warranty due to recalls and issues?
Stock. The factory warranty was extended to 120k/10 years for N18 equipped R56 S's. I'm at 132k and MINI covered it.
She's got her new pump and all it cost me was $340! I don't understand why the HPFP went from $900+ down to about $350-ish, then back up to $1000+. But I'm glad I didn't have to pay for it because I wouldn't have bought the OE part, a Bosch branded pump woulda been stuck on her no question. I will say this customer service experience has me wanting to stick with the brand though.... I can't go with fish face, just can't sand how they look... But I did test drive a 2018 Countryman S or WHALE (as Colin calls them) and loved it. Feels very similar to my Cooper but A LOT smoother over bumps.
I did this. If you have a good Aquamist Meth system you know this gauge very well with its bright white LED’s.
Took the R50 for a spin and it ran well. Unfortunately, my wife's S...the one that got the radiator brackets replaced in Sept., has a broken front one again. She is the only one driving the car, so I know she's been slamming the car straight into our 4" driveway lip and broke it and the plastic right behind the spoiler. So, now it's off to get yet another bracket installed [as well as the plastic fixed] and I hope it can be fixed before Christmas, as we have a family gathering in Columbus Christmas Eve Day and the plan is to take her car there. I taught her the correct way to enter our driveway [at an angle but slowly] and hope to God that that old dog has learned a new trick! Unfortunately, her S has an aero kit front end and I just know more abuse is on the way...GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
I think you need a 4x4 with better approach & departure angles. Either that or hire a concrete company to fix that monster curb you have to jump to get in the drive.
