Well I got bored & decide to give BLU BRIT its 19th oil change. Five quarts of clean Mobile 1 0w40 is now caressing the bearings, crankshaft & a bunch of other widgets in there. There is a nice clean Mann filter catching the nasty's before they hurt my baby. Life is good for my MINI. She is loved & treated very well.
I still believe it is completely over kill, but if you and Blu Brit are happy, then so am I. I just wish I had time to get bored. Jim
Well, I got up early this morning and had breakfast with a couple of my bud's at Tommy's Diner on West Broad street. What I'm saying is I got "Carbo'd Up".... Headed back to my shop and started on the rear suspension replacing the OEM springs with Swift Spec-R springs.... The fronts were done last weekend... Here are the OEM on the left and the Swift on the right... Here is one of the dampers switched out with the Swift... Ready to install... Here is a shot of my MINI sitting with Swifts front and rear.... So far at a mild 1" drop... I'm "Tard" and going home... Tomorrow I'll be back at it setting up the rear Camber and Toe using my DIY Toe Plates....
Looks Good Nice job MetalMan. I bet you needed those carbs today. And Tommy's is definitely good eats
Fixed the Horns So, I have been without horns for a few weeks. I haven't really had time to deal with it and the easy solutions weren't the problem. Go figure. Anyway, since I am not running OEM horns, but rather a set of Hella air trumpets, it took a while to find the break. Many thanks to CHKMINI for pointing me right to the source of the problem. A couple of quick splices and I was back in business.
^^^ Jeff, I was at the shop all day (except for breakfast), you should have stopped by and I would have given you a hand.... But, it looks like you made out OK.....
I was in Crashtons shoes today (bored) and did a full detail of the mini. I went inside to eat some dinner and low and behold my wifes dirty car was in the garage and it started to poor! Just my luck. Gotta love the fast changing Florida weather. I get the joy of washing the mini again soon!
I drove my MINI today for the 1st time in 2 weeks. I just beat the storm whilst fetching some Full-O-Bull sandwiches for lunch...
Installed the rear Swift Spec-R springs today and the ride is marvelous.... nice and compliant before firming up (progressive springs). I did my own toe adjustment with my DIY toe plates and they worked great. I dialed in the toe to ZERO and the steering is super. To help settle the suspension between the tedious steering link adjustments, I made a quick set of "slip plates" which are nothing more than a couple pieces of scrap sheet metal and a generous coating of white lithium grease between the plates. A quick wiggle of the steering wheel allows the suspension to reach a neutral compliance that is not convenient if the tires drop down on the shop floor. Here are some pictures of my "slip plates" in action.... And here is a shot sitting on my new Swift Springs with 1" of drop.
Looks good MM. I went for a drive and when I got back I felt no need to change the oil. Life is good. Jim
Drove mine to go pick up some sweet hoodies from Nathan And while I was at it I got some lessons from MetalMan on toe and camber and such. All in all a pretty good day.
