An old Russian trick to improve the longevity of tire tread is to put the tires on the roof for a year before mounting them.
Me and a couple of other MINI drivers got up at the gawdawful hour of 5:00am and met up someplace in the outskirts of town, then motored in together to downtown Vancouver BC to deliver some toys to the annual Christmas Wish toy drive. We had breakfast together and then went our separate ways.
A bud sent me this lil ingenious R50/53 specific magnetic phone mount. Perfect! Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk
Good info on the M2, I am on "the list" to get a new one IF I like the test drive, might ask for my deposit back.
Don't let my comments dissuade you. It is a fantastic car, power, comfort, handling and all... Seriously nice but, not a JCW feel... That is really what I compared to. My License plate says GOKART and that says it all... Let us know what you think. Curious mind... Thanks.
Didn't realize I was so close, but on January 1, 2020, went to a New Years Day get together with some friends and noticed my MINI cross yet another mileage milestone. Given my current rate of mileage driven, it is possible I could cross the 300000 mark at the end of 2020. Just hoping nothing serious falls off or needs replacing between now and then.
Spent yesterday dying the wheel arches, skirt and trim with Forever Black. Pleased with the outcome, time will tell. I would suggest to anyone that gives it try to use the sponge brush supplied just for the top edges and seams, it left streaks on the flatter portions. I pulled out a 2 inch sponge roller, no streaks and a better finish.
Drove the Helmet to get oil filters for the two minis then to the parts store for a filter for my truck and oil for all three of them. The truck takes 8qt......thats crazy! I may switch over to Amsoil
I buy mine on sale at Wally World & then use the Mobil 1 rebate. Worked out to $12 for 5 quarts of M1 0w40 last time. Many good oils out there these days. Oh boy we started another oil thread. LOL!!!
Haven’t pulled the tape yet, want to make sure I didn’t miss something, it was getting late. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I heard from an inside source at a BMW dealership that BMW is pulling ALL FINANCIAL SUPPORT for MINI from North America due to low sales. You will no longer be able to finance or lease a MINI from MINI / BMW. This means more dealerships will be closed soon. I have said all along BMW got greedy after the first gen was a huge success and would ruined the MINI brand. Well it looks like they finally figured that out themselves.
Why kill the brand? Just do a redesign. The BMW faithful pitched a fit over the Bangel Butt. BMW finally listened and starting making nice cars agin. All they have to do is make one car true to mini heritage. Then make all the other modules you want.
