America does not like the new BMW MINI and the sales are going (for a while) in the toilet. BMW lost money on MINI last year. BMW will still sell MINI’s everywhere, but not in the USA. BMW wants to get rid of the MINI 3 door hatch.
They needed to be replaced so I was looking for something that was a little different and wouldn’t break the bank. I am not thrilled with how far the reverse lamp extents out, probably end up going back to oem. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Pretty easy and straight forward. Like with most things, prep took the longest, Although it does suck up a lot of material, I think the foam roller is the way to go if you re looking for that factory look. Hopefully I’ll have time To give it a wash this weekend and then I will try some trim conditioner-protectant to see how it holds up.
That is interesting, wonder when & if there will be an official word about this. MINI seems to sell many more cute utes than cars. I can't remember the last time I saw an F56. I see lots of MINI trucklets,
You can find interviews with the new powers that be at whiteroofradio.com. The new guy in charge speaks on the subject but doesn't necessarily say anything official. He does say they realize they've lost their way and he wants to get back to what made MINI successful. The only MINI ute's I've ever seen was them R50 Red Bull cars (don't think they're actually made by MINI but modified by a 3rd party) but those are fairly rare nowadays though I do see one at the Global Imports stealership for service on occasion. I mostly see MINI SUV's and station wagons around ATL.
Thanks for the source Qik. I gave up on WRR a long time ago. I guess ute was the wrong term. What I meant was cute baby suvs. Been quite a while since I've seen a Red Bull MINI El Camino.
I believe BMW originally bought Mini for a quick way to comply with the CAFE standards. Perhaps now that they share engines with BMW they don't need Mini any more.
Yesterday I drove the Helmet to the ear doctor. It is a new one so I was following my map on the phone. It said to turn I got in the turning lane and looked and it was father up. I was still moving out maybe 5MPH. (So now that I am one of those idiots that drive in the turning lane)...When I looked up there was a black MINI with red mirror caps and a red roof. I waved so he knew I saw him and moved back into the left lane and let him stay in the turning lane. As I passed it was a coupe! Thats only the third coupe I have seen in the wiled since I got the Helmet. It was a very nice one too.
Right now it’s only insider dealership emails. It will be made public soon as you can’t keep anything secret with the internet and technology of today.
Same here in terms of supporting them on Patreon and listening to every podcast but the show got stale and repetitive. I do follow them on the facebook though and if they share a podcast I'll usually give it a listen if the subject matter is regarding anything new.
